To all whom itmay concern. I of thefbattery, and therefore with one pole Be it lmown that I, Wanna D. KAHN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county and State of New York, have invented an lm rovement in Portable Electric Lights, of w 'ich the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a portable electric light operated from dry cells and sometimes referred to as a flash-light, which comprises a container, frequently made of metal, a reflector mounted within the container and cara lamp, a lens by which the reflector is usually retained in place, a dry battery and suitable switching mechanism.
My invention relates more particularly to improvements in the switching mechanism for this type of lamp and aims to produce a switching mechanism of simple and inexpensive construction, which is positively and easily operated is capable of easy repair and adjustment and is soarranged as to prevent metallic objects which may be in contact with various portions of the container. The construction is preferably such that the projection 23 fits into the depression opposite the projection.

While I have only described one form of my invention, it is obvious that it may be greatly varied without departing from its spirit, and I therefore do not intend to confine myself to the precise details shown and described.
What I claim is:
1. A portable electric light, comprising a member of insulating material, a reflector secured thereto, a metallic member secured to the member of insulating material and in contact with one pole of the lam a second insulating member, a spring mem er mounted thereon, and means for flexing the spring member into contact with the metallic member to close the circuit of the lamp.
2. A portable electric light, comprising a notched disk offinsulating material having an aperture, a reflector secured in said aperture, a metallic member mounted upon the disk, a bump mounted within the reflector and electrically connected to said metallic member, a second notched disk of insulatin material secured to said metallic member an a second metallic member secured to said second disk and having a projection adapted to be brought into contact with the first metallic member, and means, operable when the notches in the insulating disks are in alinement, for eflectin such contact.
3. A portable electric light, comprising a member of insulating material, a cup-shaped metallic member secured thereto, a lamp mounted Within said insulating member and contacting with said cup-shaped metallic member, a second insulating member secured to said cup-shaped metallic member and a second metallic member carried by said second insulating member and having a projection adapted to contact with the side of said cup-shaped metallic member.
4. A portable electric light, comprising a casing, an insulating member mounted within the casing and disposed transversely thereof, a metallic member carried by said insulating member and having a portion of its surone another, a lamp in contact with one of said contact members, a battery in contact with the other of said metallic contact members, and a contact controlling membermovable within the notches in said disks and adapted to move one of said metallic contact members into contact with the other.
6. A portable electric light, comprising an insulating member, a fixed metallic contact member carried thereby, a second metallic contact member, a second insulating member inter sed between said metallic contact mem ers, one of said metallic members being provided with aprojection adapted to be moved into contact with the other of said metallic contact members and being provided with a depression, and a switch controlli member provided with a projection adap to cooperate with the depression in said metallic switch controllin member to lock the switch controlling mem er in position.
7. 8 A portable electric light, comprising a cylindrical case, a reflector mounted therein and in contact therewith, a disk of insulating material having a central aperture in threadfiector and in contact with said metallic contact member, a seco'nd disk of insulating material attached to said metallic contact member, a second metallic contact member carried by said second disk and having a pro- 'ection disposed longitudinally of the case,
