Description

ronrrABLE, rename, oooKme, Ann nnarme ovnn.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed; November 11, 11916. Serial No. 13o,745'. V g
T0 allwhom z'tmay concern:
Be it known that I, ISABELLA Mon- AND KING, a subject, of the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and residing at Bonnie Brae, Richmond Hill, Richmond, Surrey,,England, have invented Portable, Folding, Cooking, and 'Heating Ovens, of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to portable folding cooking and heating ovens of the type which will cook with an ordinary gas ring or in front of a gas or electric stove or an open fire grate, and in which the trays or shelves are detachably secured to the walls of the.
oven, and are adjustable as to position thereon, the said walls being made in two or more sections hinged together along their vertical edges.
My invention consists essentially in the particular construction, combination, and arrangement of the parts of ovens of the aforesaid type hereinafter set forth; and in order that my said invention may be fully understood I will proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings and figures and letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the interior arrangement of the parts, forming the oven constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 also in perspective, shows how the walls of the oven may be folded together, with the trays removed, so that the whole may be made into a compact package for transport.
Fig. 3 in similar view, illustrates the exterior of oven; and Fig. 4 isa perspective view of the wire frame work of one of the side walls of the oven.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts where occurring.
The oven may be used in front of an, ordinary coal, coke, or gas fire, or around a gas ring, electric stove or the like, and in accordance with this invention consists of a suitable number, preferably three, of sheets a of block tin, zinc, aluminum, or other metal, each mounted in a wire frame work b.
These sheets a are hinged together as at 0 in such manner as to permit them to be opened out when requlred for use, and to be folded together and "allow of compact storage.
The wire framework o of the sheets a shown on the two side wings of the oven illustrated are bent or curved at the top to form handles 12 to facilitate movementv of such idewings to required positions.- and the said wlre framework 6 1s formed 'at-"the bottom with loops to serve as feet upon which the oven rests. These loops may be arranged in zig zag fashion as at (Z; or the feet may consist of pear shaped loops of wire 6 Fig. 3 fastened one at each side to the sheet at the bottom and meeting at the center.
I provide a suitable number of trays f or the like to contain the articles of food to be cooked or heated. These are adjustably mounted upon the inside of the sheets a in the following manner Centrally and near the top of the side sheets a a slit 9 is cut into which is inserted a tongue 72, formed from the turned up rim or edge at the back of the tray f. The tray is kept in position by means of a wire stay Z upon each side formed with a hook at one end which engages with an eye on on the tray f. The other end of each wire stay Z engages with a hole pierced in the sheet aabove the tray f. Two or more of the eyes we may be provided if desired to allow of adjustment of the tray, see Fig. 1.
Two, three, or more, of the slits 9 may be made in the sheet a immediately beneath each other into which the tongue h of the tray f may be inserted so as to enable the position of the tray on the wall of the oven to be varied to a certain extent to suit requirements, the sheet a being correspondingly pierced for the reception of the ends of the stays Z.
There will be as many series of slits g and piercings for the ends of the side stays Z in the walls a; of the oven as there are trays to be accommodated within the same and with the said trays made to standard they are interchangeable and no difficulty will be experienced in fitting any tray into any of the positions.
In the middle sheet 0. of the three sided oven illustrated a door 11 is fitted which may also be fitted with trays or with hooks upon its inner side.
In an oven as above described articles of Fatented Apr-.9. 1 91 8. f
: particularly for use in front of a fire or range I Would have it clearly understood that additional sides of the construction set forth above may be added to suit requirements, also that the oven may be closed in around a gas ring or an oil or other stove; and a separate metal plate may be laid across the top on Which various articles of food, plates, and the like maybe kept hot while'other articles are cooking.
When not required for use the shelves are dismounted and the sides folded together Where the Whole apparatus Will occupy but little room and can'be stored in a small space.
ISABELLA MORLAND KING.
