device to e ap plied to the transmitter of an electric trumpet or ear phone which will magnify the sound delivered to the car by the ceiver.
Figure 1 is an elevation of a electric car n trumpet or car phone equipped with a sound amplifier in accordance with the principles of my invention.

The ear phone or electric ear trumpet consists of the battery 1 the transmitter 9 the Wires 3, the rheostat l and the recei As shown the transmitter 2 is circular in front and rear elevation and straight or flat in side elevation or edge View, and usually a man inserts the battery 1 into the pencil pocket of his vest with the face 6 the transmitter in front. My soundamglifier 7 consists of the sound collector 8., the sound concentrator 9, and the. attaching frame 10.
The sound collector 8 is pressed from sheet metal and is hemispherical and hollow. Notches 11 are cut in one edge to receive the posts 12 extending from the battery 1 to th transmitter 2.
The sound concentrator 9 is pressed. from similar sheet metal and is hemispherical and hollow and is considerably smaller than the collector 8, and has a central concentrator opening 12' and spacing legs 13 stamped from the opening. The concentrator 9 is placed in the collector 8 with the legs 13 in contact with its inner face, thereby forming the collecting chamber 14.
The attaching frame 10 includes a cylindrical casing 15 formed integral with the Specification of Letters Patent.

The ear phone equipped with my sound amplifier as shown and described. if used in a vest pocket will be turned with the ha I side of the transmitter in front so as to oresent the mouth 16 forwardly. The for d edge of the collector 8 surrounds a co able area and collects the sound Wav this area and transmits them through chamber l i, through the opening 12 to t chamber 2%, and through the small ')-.lf rated area 30 of the face 6.
In actual practice, I am hard of hearing and the Globe ear phone alone is only a slight help to me but since I made and applied my amplifier I can hear as readily as an average person.
Various changes may be made in the la v out and details of construction, and the ampliiier may be made to fitdiil'erent types transmitters Without departing from the spirit of my invention as set up in the following claims.
I claim:

A sound amplifier comprising a hollow hemispherical sound collector having post notches in its edge, a hollow hemispherical sound concentrator mounted within the sound collector. and having a central opening, spacing legs around the opening and forming a collecting chamber between the concentrator and collector, a cylindrical casing extending from the rim of the sound concentrator to a plane substantially flush with the edge of the collector, an annular flange inserted inside of and at the bottom of the casing, a web extending from the annular flange inside of the concentrator, a soft rubber packing ring forming a lining for the casing and the flange, bolts inserted through the collector and through the con-- ccntrator and through the web, a telephone transmitter fitting tightly within the packing ring with the battery posts in the notches, and a clamping frame hinged to the casing and adapted to hold the transmitter in place.
