To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, RALPH V. SAVAGE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sedalia, in the county of Pettis and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ignition-Timers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful Improvements in ignition timers designed especially for use in connection with internal combustion engines for regulating the time of the operation of the sparking plug.
My invention comprises various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of arts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification and in which:

A designates a sheet of metal having apertures B formed therein and laterally extending wings D and E upon opposite edges. Said sheet of metal is bent to form a cylindrical portion F having notches F in the edge for the reception of a pin S forming means to fasten the casing to the cam shaft. The wings D and E are bent to form a cylindrical shell H at right angles to the cylindrical portion F. The outer end of the cylindrlcal shell has its edge I internally turned and forming means for retaining the contact ball J therein. A pin N is passed through said apertures B and against which the inner end of a! coiled spring 0 bears. The outer portion of the spring bears against the ball J, to hold the same normally at its farthest outer limit, and in which position the said ball will project beyond the shell in which it is mounted.
The cylindrical portion F is adapted to fit the usual cam shaft at L of the timer and rotate therewith, while surroundin the shaft is a rin R having the termina s T positioned at intervals therein and against which the ball is adapted to contact as it rotates with the cam shaft.
By the provision of an ignition timer, made in accordance with my invention, it will be noted that the casing is simple in construction and may be made out of a single piece of stamped metal, the portions being bent in the manner shown and described.
What I claim to be new is- An ignition timer, comprising in combination wlth a cam shaft, a casing made of a single blank of metal having wings at the ends terminating in shoulders, the portion between the wings adapted to be bent in cylindrical form to receive said shaft, one edge of the blank having notches therein, a pin passing through the cam shaft and engaging said notches, said wings adapted to be bent semi-cylindrical, with their endsinwardly bent, and provided with oppositely disposed apertures, a pin mounted within the latter, a ball mounted between said Wings and retained therein by the inwardly bent portions of the win a spring bearing against said pin and bal In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
