To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY JERUM, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Liberty, in the county of Sullivan and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Record-Filing Case, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved record filing case for phonographic disk records and arranged to allow storing a larger number of records 1n a comparatively small space and to permit of conveniently removing any one of the records or replacing the same whenever it is desired to do so.

In order to produce the desired result, use is 143416 of a recordcontainer open at the front for the introduction or removal of a record, front and rear supporting members on the bottom of the container for supporting a record edgewise, the rear supporting member being spaced a distance from the back of the container to allow of swinging the record on the rear supporting member as a fulcrum for the rear edge of the record to abut against the back of the casing with the center of gravity of the record located in front of the rear supporting member to permit the record when released to roll back into position on both supporting members.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the record filing case;

Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional front elevation of the same on the line 33 of Fig. 2.

The container 10 is in the form of a box open at the front and the container is provided with a series of transverse triangular partitions 11 for forming separate compartments each for receiving a single disk record 12. The partitions are arranged with their bases at the front of the container with their apexes engaging the back at about the center of height of the same. The records 12 are supported edgewise on front and rear supporting members 13 and 14 attached to the bottom 15 of the container 10 and extending from one side to the other side thereof under the partitions. The supports 13 and 14 are approximately triangular in cross section so that the record 12 rests on the opposite side of the supports and is thussecurely held within the container 10. The rear support is spaced a distance from the back 16 of the container 10 and this distance is such that when the record 12 is pushed rearwardly it swings on the rear support 14 as a fulcrum, and when the rear edge of the record abuts against the back 16 then the center of gravity of this record is in front of the rear support 14. It is evident that when the operator releases the rearwardly pushed record, the latter immediately rolls forward by its own weight and thus returns to normal supported position on both front and rear supports 13 and 14. The partitions 11 have cut-out portions at their front edges to permit of conveniently taking hold of the records when removing the same from the container and for replacing the same in the container.

In using the filing case for removing one of the records, the operator with the thumb and forefinger engages the front edges of the records on opposite sides of the one to be removed and the two records are pushed rearwardly until they abut against the back 16 so that the operator can readily grasp the desired record between the thumb and forefinger and thus pull the desired record out of its compartment. While doing so, the operator releases the two other records pushed into rearmost position so that these records roll back by their own weight into supported position on both supporting members 13 and 14. The front edges of the partitions 11 may be provided with suitable tabs having indicating characters thereon for indicating the records stored in the corresponding compartments. -The open front end of the container 10 may be closed by suitable doors 20, as indicated in Fig. 2.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
