LANTERN-SLIDE MAT.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FREDERICK A. Arran- BAtit. a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Imroved-Lantern-Slide Mat, of which the folowing is a full, clear, and exact descrip tion.

Among the principal objects which the present invention has in view are: to provide incorporating in the structure of a slide for showing on the screen, the name and address of the owner of the slide; to provide mats for slides of the character mentioned having stenciled therein the designating marks or symbols; and to provide a structure for accomplishing the objects mentioned, which is simple and eflicient.

Description.

As seen in the drawings, a lantern slide when constructed and arranged in accordance with the present invention, has a color panel 7, whereon a prepared sensitized surface for the ositive reproduction of a photograph is disposed. address. The letters 10 and 11 are preferably cut by dies to form stencils. This method, however, may be changed by substituting for the dies referred to, the prickmg points commonly used in machines for stenciling or otherwise marking an address in an addressing machine. In other words, any suitable means for cutting the mat 8 in simulation of letters and numbers forming the name and address, is thought to becomrised within the scope of the claims herein made. a

By employing mats such as herein described, a manu acturer or owner may have imperishably placed upon the slides, his business card or proprietary mark, which cardor mark is projected upon the screen employed for exhibiting the slide \Vhlle I have herein shown and described the mat employed as having the names or proprietary marks cut therein to produce sections through which the light may, pass to the exhibition screen, it will be -Junderstood that the mat may be treated by 'other conventional methods to render the same transparent. I do not wish to be understood as waiving any right which I may be considered to possess to the broader interpretation of the claims to include the conventional methods above referred to.

Claims.

1. A. lantern slide mat having a view opening and marginal areas, said areas having stencil sections indicating facts relative to the ownership or subject of the slide.

2. A lantern slide mat having a viewand marginal areas. said areas havressed therein transpicuous marks ing im the 'proprietorship or description.

A lantern slide comprising a color plate pictorial representation, and a cover plate therefor; in combination with a mat interposed between said plates, said being adapted for projection mat having a central view opening and marginal areas, said areas having transparent marks therein indicating proprietorship of the slide with which they are associated, 5 saidmarks being adapted for projection on a View screen.
