Be it known that I, FREDERICK C. -MEnoU'R, a citizen of the Unit-ed States, residing at Henryetta, in the county of Okmulgeeand In carrying out my invention `1t is my purpose to produce a spring tire comprising an endless series of spring bands having their inner and outer sides thickened and the said thickened sides being provided with continuous depressions and to arrange withineach of the said depressions a flat ring having transverse ribs` disposedV to engage between the bands to sustain the said bands in noncontacting relation and at the same time serve to connect the bands, the-reduced thickness of the transverse sides of the bands being adapted to afford the desired resiliency for the tire.
With the above and other objects in view the improvement resides in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts set forth in the following specification and falling within the scope of the appended claims.

The improvement contemplates'the employment of an endless series of round metallic spring bands 2. Each of the bands 2 is gradually increased in thickness from its sides to its inner and to its outer edge, as indicated by the numerals 3-3, and the maXimum thickness of each of said bands is at` diametrically opposite points. Each of the thickened portions 3 3 is formed with a transverse depression or channel indicated for distinction by the numerals 4 and 5 re- 1 Y specification of Letters raient.

The space between the confronting bands is comparatively slight and may, if desired, be covered by the casing of a pneumatic tire (not shown), or in any other suitable manner. The rings 6 and 7 each may comprise a split member and may have their ends drawn together in any desired or preferred manner so as to tightly force the bands against the ribs of the vsaid rings, and by reference to the said drawings it will be noted'that the rings are of a. thickness approximately corresponding with the depth of the depressions 4 and 5 and are also of a width corresponding `with the width of the said depressions, and from a construction as above described it will be noted lthat the recesses provide pockets for the rings to properly retain the rings upon the bands, and the bands in proper spaced relation to each other, while the reduced sides of said bands provide for the necessary yielding or resiliency of the tire. It is to be understood that, if desired, the tire may be arranged in an outer casing, but, as illustrated. In Fig. 6 of the drawings, the outer ring member, indicated by the character 10, may yprovide a. tread or bearing surface for the tire, the said ring having its inner face concaved to engage with the thickened portionsof the bands 2, and its said inner yface also provided with a centrally disposed continuous iange 11 to be received in the depressions 4 of the said bands 2,l the saidv flange being, of course, provided with transverse ribs, similar to the ribs 8 and 9 upon the members 6 and 7.
From the above description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings the simplicity of the device, as well as the advantages thereof will, it is thought, be perfectly apparent to those skilled in the art to which such invention appertains without further detailed description.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:

A spring tire Comprising an endless series of continuous bands which have diemet;` rically opposite thickened portions and their said thickened portions registering depressions, ring members for the bands designed to `be received in the said depressions, said ring members having transverse ribs disposed to engage between the bands and to sustain said bands in noncontacting relation. 1
