Be it known that'I, GUY 'A. H MrL'roina citizen of the United Stateafresiding at Leave-nworth, in the. county of Chelan and for arrangement on an attachment to the inner side of the door of apost office box to indicate tov user of thebox, When the box I rent is due and to also look the dooragainst being opened from the outside by the use of a key and to indicate an announcement to the user of the box that the box is closed, the object of my invention being to provide improved devices of this kind which are cheap and simple and which may be readily attached to the inner side of a post-ofiice box door of usual form.
The invention consists in the features of construction, combination, and arrangement of devices, hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is an-elevation of the inner side of a post-office box door provided with announcing and door locking devices constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention showing one of the announcing devices in normal position out of the way and the other arranged in displaying and door locking position. 7
Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view on the plane indicated by the line a-a of Fig. 1 through the door and also through the frame which forms the front side of the boxes, and showing one of the announcingdevices in locking position.
For the purposes of this specification, the front or metal frame of a mail box or series of mail boxes is indicated at 1, the sides of a mail box being indicated at 2, and the door being indicated at 3. The frame, the.
door, and the box are of the usual construction and such as are commonly-employed in post-offices and the door is shown as provided with the usual key operated lock 4, and is also provided at one side with hinges 5 and with a square opening which iscovered by a glass pane 6. In accordance with my invention, I provide a pair of announcing devices or levers 7, 8, which are arranged at opposite sides of the door on the Specification of Letters Patent:
