Description
MAX E. ZIEGE, 6F LUNING, NEVADA.
SPRING PAPER-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dee. a, 19mm.
Application filed Gctober 5, 1916. Serial No. 123,903.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, MAX E. ZIEGE, a citizen of Germany, residing at Luning, in the county of Mineral and State of Nevada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spring Paper-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to the class of paper files and binders and has particular reference to new and useful improve ments in spring paper holders.
The primary object of my invention is to provide a paper holder which may be cheaply constructed, is strong and durable and effective in operation.
Another object of my invention is to provide a paper holder of the class described which may be quickly and easily applied to an object in operative position, and which when in use will firmly retain an object held thereby against accidental displacement.
Other objects and advantages to be derived from the use of my improved spring paper holder will appear from the following detailed description and the claim, taken with an inspection of the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a spring paper holder embodying the improvements of my invention, the same being shown in operative position; and
Fig. 2 is a side elevational view of the same, a portion of the supporting brackets and shaft being broken away.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, wherein similar characters of reference designate like and corresponding parts throughout the various views, B designates in its entirety a bracket for supporting the holder, said bracket having a base portion 1 formed with a lateral extension 2 through which a plurality of fastening screws 3 are engaged for supporting the bracket. The end portions of the bracket are bent out wardly to form bearings 4: and 5 in which is received a rod 6.
The holding arm is formed preferably of a single strand of wire 7 provided with a coiled spring portion 8 surrounding the rod 6, the inner free end 9 of the strand engagtiomes of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the ing the outer surface of the base 1 of the bracket B. The outer end of the strand of wire 7 is looped upon itself as at 10 to form converging object holding portions 11, the
same being connected by a block 152, the latter being soldered to the portions 11 adjacent their juncture. The loop portion 10 is preferably upturned as at 13 to facilitate insertion of objects therebeneath.
In use the bracket B is mounted upon a flat surface, such as the upper surface of a board or the like and is ready for use. I desire to lay particular stress upon the extreme simplicity of the device, the cost of manufacture of the same being slight. A newspaper or the like is shown in Fig. 1 being held by the retaining arm.
From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it is through that a clear and comprehensive understanding of the construction, opera tion and advantages of my invention may be had, and while I have shown and described the device as embodying a specific structure, I desire that it be understood that such changes may be made in said structure as do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A device of the class described including a substantially U-shaped bracket, a lateral projection on the base of said bracket in a single plane therewith adapted to be secured to a wall to support the bracket, a rod extending through the arms of the bracket and disposed parallel with the base, a single wire strand having one end coiled around said rod with its extremity engaging the base of the bracket adjacent one end, the wire extending downwardly from the opposite end of the bracket forming an elongated object engaging loop with converging side portions, and means to securely hold the converged side portions of the wire loop at their junction.
In testimony whereof, I a'IiiX my signature hereto.
MAX E. ZIEGE.
Commissioner of Patents,
Washington. D. 0.
