Be it known that I, Minronn MARTIN, a v
, citizen of the UnitedxStates, residing at in providing a tracksecured of thB ShlldlO-filld' extend ngover a considnet.
Spokane, in the county of Spokane and State of- Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvement sin Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in. cabinets and more particularlytoa studio like cabinet andthe'prh marypbject of the invention is to provide a cabinet for use in a-photographic studio which carries the light and is capable. of
being moved to various positions in the, studio, whereby to compensate for various scenes and backgrounds within the studio.
A further object of the invention resides to th re fli erableportion of the; same from which is suspended to operate thereon, a l ght cabi-l A further object of the invention resides in ip ioviding acabinet which is capable of being adjusted to various positions on its" suspension means i and which is provided with means whereby same may be raised, and lowered to adjust the light in the proper manner. V
With these and other objects .in view, my invention consists inthe novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter referred to and more particularlypointed out in the specification and claims.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application Figure l is a perspective view of a studio showing my device applied to use therein;
Fig. 2 is a section through the cabinet;
Fig. 3 is a side elevation thereof; and I Fig. 4 line 1-4 of Fig. 3. p a
In describing the invention I shall refer to the drawing in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views and in which 1 designates a room of a structure designed as a photographic studio, the walls 2 of which are preferably so arranged that one consists of windows properly draped, another provided with a fire place, a third wall designed as an outdoor scene or the like and a fourth wall for various other indoor furnishings. The furnishings of the studio are is a vertical section as seen on the 'P background.

i more or less iinmaterial but I'mentionthe matter n. order to, bring oulfi fthe factgthat' in out mylinvention I utiliZevarious parts of the room as'a backgroundfor P to ra I The ceiling support my improved cabinet. I
Secured to and depending from thefbal' pended" within this cabinet" and the wires therefrom leadthroughthetop of thecabinet, same being designated'at'13 andconnect with a service box l l arranged centrally of the ceiling 3. The rearwall of the cabinet has a lowerbeveled portion 15 which 1s deslgned to form a hinged door whereby entrance may be readily had to the interior ions 19 which mesh with pinions 20 on the shafts 8.. The pinions 20 have upper extensions 21 thereon which directly support the lower or base portion of the cabinet 10 and a bearing plate 22 is provided at this oint to receive thereagainst the bearing ballsv 23 carried by; the extension 21 of the pinion.
It will be seen a cabinet will be raised or lowered as desired to make the light available to the scene,
and further it will be seen that the cabinet may be moved on its swivel or pivot as de- M r 3 has secured thereto "an'eyeshaped trackmeniber l which is constructed to' extend around. the room adjacentthe' walls2j. Operating onithe track dare the rollers?) which are carried by 'a U-shaped bracket 6, the latter having swiveledto' the base thereof" a bar 7 which is designed to' from this construction that 7 adjacent the=endsthereof 'aretherods 8, the lower portions'of which are threaded as "shown at 9. Loosely mounted on th elrdd's 8 is a box like cabinet 10 the front wall of I which is inclined inwardly from upper. to its lower edgefand'designatedasofll; as [clearly sliownfin Fig. 'gbf thefdrawings. A P2 of 7 Qth rlamiwLlQ .ranged on this shaft 17 are the beveled pin- 7 sired. Being supported on a track, as shown a i and described, the cabinet carrying the light may be moved to any position in the room according to the scene desired for use as a From the foregoing it will be seen that I provide a simple inexpensive and efiicient means for carrying-out the objects of-the invention and While I have particularly described the elements best adapted to 1perform the functions set forth, it is obvious c that variouschanges in the form, proportion Having thus describedmy invention, what c j I claim and desire to secure by'Letters Patent, is 1. In a device of the class described, the
' movable'on the latter, said frame being pro jvided Witha pair of dependingshafts, the
lower portions of same being threaded, a
cabinet guided on said shafts, beveledpinions carried by the threaded portions of the shafts and means carried by the cabinet for engagement with said beveled pinions whereby to raise and lower said cabinet on i c 2. In a device of the class described, the
combination with a structure and a track;
of; a' frame swivelly suspended from said? track and movable thereon, said frame bein rovided with a pair, of thread copies a m ment ay be obtained to:
on thelshafts, and means carried by the cabinetfor engagement with said beveled pinions whereby to raise and lower said cabinet.
3. In a device of the class described, the combination with a structure and a track, of a frame swivelly suspended from said track and movable thereon, said frame being provided with a pair of threaded depending shafts, a cabinet guided on said shafts, beveled pinions threadedly mounted on the shafts, and a shaft carried by the cabinet and having beveled pinions engag- 7 ing the aforementioned 'pinions whereby to combination With" a'structure and a track secured to the ceiling thereof; of frame,
" swivelly suspended from said track and I raise and lower said cabinet. e,
I 4. In a device of the class described, the combination of an overhead track, a laterally revoluble frame suspended therefrom and adapted to travel thereon, said frame being provided with dependingshafts, a
cabinet slidably mounted on the shafts,and means for adjustingsaidcabinet vertically on the shafts. i
5. In a device of the class described, the a combination of an overhead track, a frame suspended therefrom and adapted to travel thereon, said frame being revoluble'on a vertical axis, and an illuminating cabinet supported by said frame and vertically adjustable thereon; V y V In testlmony whereof I aflix my signature.
