To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1', EDWIN M. SetrNDnRs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles.
and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plaster-Bandage Rollers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in plaster bandage rollers and the principal object of the invention isto provide a device for distributing plaster of Paris over bandages and rolling the same into .convenient form.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device which will roll bandages of variouswidths and distribute the plaster of Paris in various thicknesses so as to suit the requirements of the user.
A further object of the invention is to provide a distributer which may be thrown into operative or inoperative position so. as to leave the table clear for the proper positioning of bandages thereon.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a device which will prevent the bandages from being torn or otherwise injured when they come in contact with any foreign object which might have falleninto the plaster of; Paris.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification and aocomp anying drawings, in which Figurel isa top plan view of a bandage roller constructed in accordance with. this invention.

Referring to the drawings the numeral 1 designates the table or bed of the' device which is supported on suitable legs 2 arranged at opposite corners; A suitable bin designated generally by the numeral'3 issupported beneath the table or bed 1 and is adapted to receive the plaster of Paris which is to be spread on the bandages. Secured to the end of the table opposite the reserve receptacle at is a suitable receptacle 6 for containing. the bandages which are to be treated. A suit able wall 7 is secured to the rear side of the table and secured centrally thereof and eX- tending from the bottom of the bin to a point in a plane above the upper edge of the wall is theelevator shaft 8 the lower portion of which opens into the bin in the manner illustrated in the drawings.
. Journaled within the elevator shaft near its upper and lower terminals are the rollers 9 over which the elevator belt 10 passes on which the buckets 11 are carried. As illustrated in the drawing it will be seen that the inner run of the elevator belt 10 passes upwardly while the outer run travels downwardly thus rotating the rollers 9 in a clockwise direction. The upper roller 9 is mounted on a shaft the end of which is extended as at 12 and carries the pulleylS by means 15 which extends through the elevator be- 3 tween the runs of the belt 10 and beneath the table 1 to the forward sidethereof where it is provided with a crank 15 for manual rotation of the device. The opposite end of this shaft carries the drive wheel 14 and a suitable pulley 16 and the belt 15 runs over the drive wheel and over the pulley 18 sothat upon rotation of the drive wheel the elevator will be actuated. A suitable belt 17 passes over the pulley l6 and over a suitable pulley 18 mounted on the end of the shaft 19 which is journaled in suitable brackets 20 near the bottom of the bin. This shaft carries a suitable bevel pinion 21 which meshes with the bevel pinion 22 mounted on the shaft 23 which is journaled within the bin and carries a worm 24: for agitating the plaster of Paris and feeding the same toward the elevator.
The upper end of the elevator communicates with a suitable chute 25. The lower terminal of the chute 25 is positioned near the center of the table 1 and in a plane slightlyabove the upper side thereof and is wheel 27, which is adapted to run against the wheel 14 so that the spindle is friction- ,ally rotated by the rotation of the wheel 14.
The spindleis journaled as at 28 in suitthrough the machine a suitable spindle 2b: is provided and carries at one end a friction able blocks 32 slidably mounted in frames 29 secured on the opposite sides .7 of the table 1. The frames 29 carry set screws 30, which are provided with springs 81 bearing against the blocks 82, whereby the spindle 26 is held under a tension. and the friction wheel 27 keyed on the end of the spindle 26 is held in engagement with the. wheel 27.
It will thus be seen that the tension on the wheel may be adjusted to suit varying conditions.
In order to hold the bandage flat and in proper place on the table a suitable roller 33 generally by the numeral 3.5 and comprises a triangular piece 36, which is pivoted to an arm 37 similar to the arm 34 and is adapted to be swung downwardly to the position "shown in Figs. 1 and 3., or upwardly to the position shown in Figs. 2 and 4. The slots 36 which are positioned on each side of the shoe receive the excess plaster. Paris from the shoe, so that the excess plaster Paris is re urned t th bin 3. It will-also be, seen that the pressure of the shoe 36 on the bandage may be regulated so that the thickness of the plaster Paris spread on said bandage may also be regulated. I
7 While in the foregoing there has been Shown and. described the preferred embodimentof this invention, it is to be understood that such changes may he made in the combination and arrangement of parts as will fall within'the spirit and scope of the appen d claims- .What is claimed is:

In a device of the class described in cluding a table, having a series of spaced longitudinal slots, a spindle. rotatably mounted above the table adapted to "wind bandages and guide the same between the slots, means to convey plaster Paris to the bandage in front of said bandage receiving means, a scraper positioned in front of said band-age receiving means and centrally of said slots, saidscraper having its front wall inclined rearwardly from the central por 1 tion thereof toward said slots, whereby any excess plaster Paris is scraped off said band age toward said slots, as and for the purpose specified.
3.. A device of the class described including a table having slots'therein, a bin positioned beneath the table, a spindle rotatably mounted abeve the table, an elevator at one side of the table and operable within the bin, a chute connected to the upper. end of the elevator, the lower end of the chute being disposed immediatelyabove a bandage which is to he wound, a'roller for holding said bandage flat when passing beneath the chute and a distributer immediately in the rear of the chute adapted to spread a material over the face of the bandage and scrape any excess of material off to the side and swung downwardly to hold the bandage which is being wound fiat on, the tablemeans for conveying. plaster Paris to the bandage lmmediately in rear of the roller, a distributer adapted to spread the plaster Paris over the bandage and means carried by the bandage receiving spindle to control thespeed of'rotation. of .saidspindle.
