To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CARL F. CREonLIUs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Falmouth, in the county of Pendleton and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tooth-Brush and Dentifrice Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had there in to the accompanying drawings.

My invention relates to containers for a tooth brush and any approved or desirable form of dentifrice, and the objects contemplated are the provision of a container which will render the said tooth brush and dentifrice thoroughly aseptic; to provide a container which is extremely easy of access, and to provide a container in which the said toilet articles are held in relatively fixed position and thereby prevented from moving about or rattling within the confines of the container.

To the accomplishment of the recited objects and others coordinate therewith the preferred embodiment of my invention resides in the arrangement and construction of parts hereinafter described, as shown in the accompanying drawings and embraced within the scope of the appended claims.

In said drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the container in open position, showing the manner of nesting the toilet articles therein.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the container with the toilet articles removed.

Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional View of the container illustrating the normal position of the fastening means just prior to the introduction of the dentifrice tube, and

Fig. 4 is a similar view showing the final position of the fastening means subsequent to the insertion of the dentifrice tube.

Referring more particularly to the drawings for detailed description of my invention, the numeral 5 designates a substantially oblong box constructed from metal or any other desirable material, and having a top or closure, as 6. Toward one end of the box a portion of one of its sides is struck inwardly and suitably curved so as to present a clip 7 for engagement with the handle 8 of a tooth brush 9. By virtue of this construction, an opening 7 is formed in the side of the container, and extends from the bottom vertically to a point just short of the top edge. Slightly in advance of the clip 7 is positioned substantially medially of the bottom of the container 5 a second clip 10 having a pair of upwardly projecting arms 11 and 12 with curved or outwardly flared eXtremital portions 13. The clip 10 in its entirety is provided for the purpose of holding a dentifrice tube, as 14.

Now in operation the closure 6 is first placed in open position as shown in Fig. 1, whereupon the handle 8 of the tooth brush is inserted between the clip 7 and the adjacent side of the container 5. The nozzle 15 of the dentifrice tube, with its screw-cap 16, is then inserted in and firmly held by the clip 10. The handle of the tooth brush merely bridges the opening 7 at about its center, thus leaving sufiicient space above and below the handle to permit the free circulation of air in the interior of the container which serves to aerate the brush and tube in a very effective manner.

I have found that while the bodies of dentifrice tubes vary in size, their nozzles and caps vary in size but slightly, and that by making the clip strong, resilient and of a normal size smaller than the smallest nozzle. it is well adapted to receive caps of all of the standard tubes. 'The tube is held in the container by reason of the engagement of the clip 10 with the cap 16 between the flange 17 and the adjacent portion of the body of the tube, and since the cap constitutes one of the essential elements of the fastening, the user is always forced to insert the tube with the cap applied thereto.

Aside from the fact that the tooth brush and dentifrice tube are always preserved in a thoroughly aseptic condition, these articles are prevented from being shaken about in the container, and the bristles of the brush precluded from contacting with the paste. A still further advantage resides in the fact that ones tooth brush may be easily identified by simply observing the handle through the hole 7 in the side of the box, as it frequently is the case that families provide themselves purposely with tooth brushes of different colors and designs so that the matter of identification may be disposed of with facility.

\Vhat I claim is:

1. In a device of the character described the combination with a container and a closure therefor, of a clip struck from one of the sides of the container and projecting inwardly and upwardly with respect thereto and leaving an opening in the side of the container of a length equal to the length of the clip, said clip being adapted to engage the handle of a tooth brush so that said opening above and below the handle will be free for ventilatingthe contents of the container, and a second clip fastened medially of the bottom of the container, said last mentioned clip serving as a fastening means for a dentifrice tube.

2. In a device of the character described,

the combination of a container and a closure therefor, of a clip formed integral with the side of said container and projecting inwardly and upwardly in substantial parallelism and spaced relation with the adjacent side of the box, and leaving a ventilating opening in the side of the box.

3. In a device of the character described, the combination of a container and a closure therefor, of a pair of clips, one of said clips projecting from the side of the box and the other of said clips being positioned substantially medially of the bottom of the box, one side of said container having a ventilating opening in substantial alinement With said clips.
