To all wimm- 'Zt may concern Be it known that I, Hnnnnm DuN'roN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Benton Harbor, in the county of Berrien and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in lVIop-lVringers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention` relates to certain novel and useful improvements in mop wringers z and has particular application to a mop pail It is also my purpose to provide a mopr ping pail holder bymeans of which a numarranged side by side so that access may be conveniently had to any one of the pails, the

pails `preferably carrying various fluids so that the mop may be supplied with a clean ing -Huid for cleaning the floor or the like and subsequently relieved of such fluidand the dirt and sediment contained therein after the mopping operation, the pail holder being provided with a `Wringer whereby any superliuous liquid may be removed from the mop and thrownback into the respective receptacle previous to putting the mop into use.

Furthermore, I aim to provide a combination pail holder andwringer which will embrace the desired features of simplicity, eiliciency, durability and strength coupled with cheapness of cost in manufacture and marketing and which may be moved about and operated with ease and facility.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth in and falling Within the scope of the claims.

In the accompanying drawing: Figure l is a view inside elevation of a combination pail` holder and wringer constructed in ac cordancc with my present invention. Fig. 2 is atransverse sectional view therethrough, and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view, the wringer being shown in elevation.

Referring now to the accompanying draw-n ing in detail, the numeral 1 designates a substantially rectangular casing constructed of any suitable material and provided with casters 2 whereby the casing may be readily moved about or transported from place to place. The upper end of this casing or receptacle is preferably open and `provided with a cap or closure 3 having suitably shaped openings il formed therein and spaced apart longitudinally of the receptacle.

The numerals 5, 5 indicate the pails, such pails being of any suitable consti-notion and having the upper ends thereof flanged outwardly as at 6 so as to rest upon the cap 3 at the marginal edges of the openings 4; therein. By means of this construction, it will be seen that the pails 5, `5 may be readily passed through thc openings 4 in the cap and suspended from the cap within the casingor receptacle, while when it is desired to remove the pails, it is only necessary to lift the same out of the receptacle. If desired, the pails may be equipped with hails or handles to facilitate the removal thereof from the receptacle. One of the pails is preferably provided with a washing or cleaning compound so that the floor or other surface may be cleaned in the desired manner, While the other pail preferably contains a cleansing liquid designed to receive the mop subsequent to the mopping operation so as to remove the dirt and sediment tlierefrom.

In accordance with my present invention and as an essential part thereof, the casing l for the pails is equipped with a wringcr whereby any superfluous liquid may be removed from the mop previous to the mopping operation. In the present instance, this wringcr comprises a roller 7 journaled in stationary bearings 8 rigidly secured to the opposite end walls ofthe casing adjacent to one longitudinal edge thereof, and a swinging roller 9 journaled in suitable alining bearings carried by arms 10 pivoted as at 11 to the opposite end walls of the casing at a point approximately at the center of the upper portion of such walls so that the arms may be swung in an arc to throw the roller 9 in and out of contact with the roller 7. The roller extremities of these arms 10, 10 are preferably extended at an angle to themselves as at 12 and interconnected through the medium of a bar 13, while the roller 9 is in the formof two sections lll, 14 designed to be thrown into and out `of engagement with the respective portions of the roller 7, an arm depending from the intermediate portion of the bar 13 forms a bearing for the shaft of the upper roller and is pivoted at its lower end as at 16 upon a transverse brace 1T carried by the casing or receptacle 1, the arm 15 and the brace 17 reinforcing the wringer structure. In the use of the wringer, the bar 13 is grasped by the operator to swing the arms 10, 10 about the pivots 11 and so throw the roller 9 toward the roller 7, the mop cloth having been previously interposed between such rollers. 1t will be noted that the bar 13, 'in the operation of the wringer, is disposed in a horizontal plane, incident to the extended portions 12, 12 of the arms 10, thereby enabling the operator to apply his foot to the bar to bring the desired pressure to bear upon the mop cloth.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, the construction, and manner of employing my invention will be readily apparent. 1t will be seen that I have provided a combination pail holder and mop wringer which may be readily transported fromv place to place and from which the pails may be opies of this patent 'may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the readily removed when desired, and the mop cloth relieved of anysuperfluous liquid.

I claim:

In a mop wringer, a receptacle, stationary bearings secured to the opposite end walls of said receptacle adjacent to the side edges thereof, a roller journaled in said bearings, arms pivoted upon the end walls of said receptacle approximately centrally thereof and having the free ends thereof eX- tended upwardly, a reinforcing bar arranged transversely of said receptacle centrally thereof, an arm pivoted upon said bar at the central portion thereofa-nd having the free end extended upwardly, a cross bar connected to the upwardly-extended portions of said arms and interconnecting the same, and a second roller journaled in said arms at the juncture of the upwardlyextending portions with the main parts thereof adapted to be swung toward and away from said first roller.
