'Vith these ends in view, this invention consists in the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafterI set forth and then specifically designated by the claims.

In carrying out my invention as here embodied 2 represents a boiler having flues or tubes 3 therein.
'-l denotes my improved boiler flue cleaner which is mounted in front of the boiler within the inclosing walls, so that' the steam therein may be super-heated or dried before passing into the flues, butis of such construction that the draft is not interfered with. Leading from the boiler 2 is a steam supply pipe 5 which is connected with the discharge pipe or header G, and "has a valve 7 situated there in to regulate the supply of the steam to said header. From said supply pipe between the valve 'i' and the boiler leads a drain pipe 8, the ends of which preferably passes through the inclosing walls and enters the ash pit, whereby the water may bc drained from the supply pipe before the steam is turned into the header and said drain pipe has a valve 9 situated therein for opening and closing the same.
The discharge pipe or header C has connected thereto a number of valves l0, each of which is provided with a spring actuated valve stem ll carrying a rotatable valve plug 27 having a plurality of openix'igs-QS tributing pipe 13 having branch pipes 14 connected thereto. The distributing pipes and their branch pipes carry a number of nozzles l5, one of which is opposite each of the tlues 3 of the boiler and each distributing pipe with its branch pipe and nozzles forms a section which is controlled by one -of the valves 10. On the outer end of each at right angles to the first named sheaves Cri and journaled in the bracket 21, secured to the outer face of the front Wall 19, the chains passing through 'suitable openings in said front wall and to the outer ends of said chains' are fastened the handles The nozzles 15 each comprise a threaded .stem whereby they may. be secured to the distributing pipes and branch pipes and a body 24 haring a plurality of spiral openings passing' longitudinally therethrough, which will impart a whirling motion to the, steam as it enters the'tlues, So that the foreign matter may be readily removed.
The operation of the device is as follows: 'l'he valve 9 is lirst open and the water drains from the supply pipe 5 thro-ugh the drain pipe S, after which the .valve 9 isl again closed and the valve 7 in the supply pipe opened, which permits the steam to enter the discharge pipe or header 6 where it is allowed to remain a short time so that the temperature Will completely dry the steam or cause it to be super-heated.v By pulling upon one of the lexible cables 16, thewlieel l2 to which said cable is connected will be rotated against the action'of the spring actuated-valve stem l1, thus open ing thev valve and permitting the steam to into the distributing pipe 13, then into the branch pipeswand through all o? the nozzles oi one section and into the flues opposite to which the nozzles are situated, thus cleaning a number of the boiler flues with-4 out interfering with the ren'iaining flues. iecause oi the whirling motion imparted to the steam as it enters the lues the foreign matter will be virtually scraped from the interior faces of the iiues and carried along with the jetsfot steam and out of the opposite'ends. 1
