CASE-CLIP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 3, 1914.
Application filed July 25, 1913. seriaino. 731,182.
To all 'whom it ma concern:
Be it known t at I, DAMABE J. Cora, a citizen of the United States, residing at Manchester, in the county of Hillsboro and State of New Hampshire. have invented new and useful Improvements in Case-Clips, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to case clips and means for attaching the same.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide a simple and efficient clip adapted to be engaged over the wall of the pocket for holding the case against accidental displacement.
Another object of the invention is the provision of novel means for attachin the clip to the case in such manner that t e clip is constantly held with firm pressure against the outside wall of the case, the clip having sufficient inherent resiliency to permit spreading away from the case when desired.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing,
which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure 1 is a front elevation. Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing a section of the pocket wall arranged between the clip and case. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail sectional view taken through the clip and its attaching means.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, 1 represents an ordinary e e lass case having a hinged spring actuate 1i 2. This lid is usually formed'of metal and covered on its exterior surface with leather or other similar material and usually lined with plush, chamois orthe like, the lining in this instance being indicated at 3. Adjacent one end and central of the lid the same is provided with a raised boss 4L producedby punching out the metal, as shown. This oss is centrally apertured and passing through the aperture is a bolt 5 upon which a clamping nut 6 is threaded, this nut being arranged between the lid and the linin and seated in the depression 7 produced by orming the boss, so that when the lining is socured over the same a substantially even inner surface is produced.
The bolt is provided with a head 8 recessed on its under side, as shown at 9, to substantially fit the boss and wound around the bolt and seated between the head and the upper end of the boss are the terminals of the spring clip 10. In this manner the terminals of the clip will be arran ed in the depression of the head and the ependin outer edges will bear upon the cli and hold the same firmly against the case id.
What is claimed is:-- I
In combination, a case lid having an outwardl projecting hollow boss a bolt passing t rough the boss, a c amping nut threaded on the bolt and seated in the hollow of the boss, a head on the bolt havin a hollowed out portion to fit the boss an a spring clip having its terminals wound around the bolt and arranged in the hollowed out portion of the head.
In testimon whereof I afiix my signature in presence 0 two witnesses.
DAMASE J. COTE.
