UFFELMAN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at N. 8., Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Pole and Shade- Roller Fixtures, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to brackets for supporting curtain pole and shade roller fixtures, and has for its object to provide a device of such class, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, with means capable of supporting the form of curtain pole fixtures now in general use, and furthercapable of adj ustably supporting shade roller fixtures to provide for different lengths of shade rollers.

Further objects of the invention are to provide a bracket for the purpose set forth, which is simple in its construction and arrangement, stron durable, liicient and convenient in its use, readily set up with respect to the window frame and inexpensive to manufacture.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more fully described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which. come within the sc pe of the claims hereunto appended.

In describing the invention in detail, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference characters dcnotc corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1. is an elevation of the upper portion of a window frame showing the adaptation therewith of a pair of supporting brackets in accordance with this invention and further showing the adaptation of the brackets for supporting a curtain pole and shade roller. Fig. 2 is a frontelevation, on an enlarged scale, of a supporting bracket in accordance with thisin'vention and further showing one end of a curtain pole connected thereto. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view of the bracket. Fig. 4: is an inverted plan in longitudinal section, and Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional view of the bracket show ing the adaptation therewith of a modified form of curtain pole supporting fixture.

Referring to the drawings in detail, 7 denotes the upper portion of, a window frame, and mounted upon each upper corner of said frame is a supporting bracket in accordance with this invention, and said bracket consists of a base plate 8, having the top thereof formed with a rearwardly extending flange 9, and its outer side with a rearwardly extending vertically disposed llange 10. The flange 9 is provided with a plurality of openings 11 for the passage of holdfast devices to engage in the top edge of the frame 7 for securing the plate 8 to said frame. The flange 9, when the bracket is mounted in position, extends upon the top edge of the frame 7, while the flange 10 is positioned against the side edge of the frame 7 and said flange 10 is provided with a plurality of openings 12 for the passage of holdfast devices to secure said flange 10 to the window frame. The plate 8 in proximity to the flange 10 is formed with a vertically disposed slot 13.

The plate 8 at its bottom, is formed with a pair of outwardly projecting apcrturcd ears 1lr15 and mounted in the said cars is a. threaded member 16, which has a head at one side end as at 17, and at its other end has fixedly secured thereto a thumb piece 18. The head 17 abuts against the outer face of theear 15, while the thumb piece 18 is arranged exterior-1y of the car 1 1. The member 16 projects from the car 14 a suflicicnt distance so as to receive the thumb piece 18. The member 16 is rotatably mounted in the ears 1 l-15 and supports a shade roller fixture 19, the latter being pro vided with a squared upper portion 20 which abuts against the plate 8, and said fixture furthermore is provided with an opening 21, the wall of which is threaded and engages with the threads of the member 16. In view of the fact that the member 19 abuts against the plate 8, which prevents turning of said fixture upon the member 16, it is obvious that when the member 16 is rotated, the fixture 19 will be shifted between the cars 14L15, the direction in which the fixture 19 moves, depending in what direction the member 16 is rotated.

Arranged against the outer face of the plate 8 and above the ear 1%, is a narrow plate 22, formed with a vertically disposed slot 28, which registers with the slot 18. The plate 22, at its top, is provided with a rearwardly extending flange 24 which is seated upon the flange 9, and the said plate 22 is furthermore provided with a rearwardly extending flange 25, which is positioned against the flange 10. The flanges 2d-25 are provided with openings, and the holdfast de vices which are employed for securing the plate 8 to the window are also employed for securing the plate 22 to the plate 8.

The plate 8 near its lower end is provided with an opening 26 and which registers with an opening 27 formed in the plate 22 and extending through the opening 27 is a stationary threaded member 28, the latter having a head 28 which is seated in the opening 26, the latter being larger than the opening 27. Extending through and vertically shiftable in the slot 23 is a threaded member 29 which has its inner end provided with a head 80 arranged in the slot 13. The slot 23 is of less width than the slot 13. When the plate 22 is secured in position with respect to the plate 8, the said plate 22 couples the members 28 and 29 to the plate 8, due to the fact that the heads 28 and 30 engage the inner face of the plate The members 28 and 29 are employed for detachably securing different sizes of curtain pole fixtures to the bracket and which can be accomplished by adjusting the member 29 toward or away from the member 28, depending upon the distance between the openings in the curtain pole fixture through which extends the members 28 and 28 to secure the fixture in position. The member 28 is stationary and extends through the lower portion of the curtain pole fixture 81 as illustrated in Fig. 2, or the lower portion of the curtain pole fix ure 82, as illustrated in Fig. 5. 1n 2 the member 29 has been adjusted to extend through the upper portion of the fixture 31, the latter being of less height than the fixture 32, whereas in 5 the member 29 has been adjusted to near the upper ends of the slots 13 and 28 to ex tend through the upper portion of the fixture 82. The curtain pole fixture, when mounted upon the members 28 and 29, are secured to the bracket through the medium of nuts 88 which are mounted upon the members 28-29.

What I claim is j 1. A supporting bracket for curtain pole and shade roller fixture comprising a plate adapted to be seemed to a window frame and provided with a vertically disposed slot and an opening below said slot, a member connected to said plate and provided with a slot and an opening registering respectively with the slot and opening of the plate, the slot of said member being of less width than the slot or the plate and the openingin said member being smaller than the opening in the plate, a stationary threaded member mounted in the opening of the plate and extending through the opening of said memher, and a vertically adjustable threaded member seated in the slot of the plate and extending through the slot of said member.

2. A supporting bracket for curtain pole and shade roller fixture comprising a plate adapted to be secured to a window frame and provided with a vertically disposed slot and an opening below said slot, a member connected to said plate and provided with a slot and an opening registering respectively with the slot and opening of the plate, the slot of said member being of less width than the slot of the plate and the opening in said member being smaller than the opening in the plate, a stationary threaded member mounted in the opening of the plate and extending through the opening of said memher, and a vertically adjustable threaded member seated in the slot of the plate and extending through the slot of said member, a pair of ears projecting from said plate, a rotatable threaded member mounted in said ears.

A supporting bracket for curtain pole and shade roller fixture con'iprising a plate adapted to be secured to a window frame and provided with a vertically disposed slot and an opening below said slot, a member connected to said'plate and provided with a slot and an opening registering respectively with the slot and openingof the plate, the slot of said member being of less width than the slot of the plate, and the opening in said member being smaller than the opening in the plate, a stationary threaded member mounted in the opening of the plate and extending through the opening of said mem her, a vertically adjustable threaded member seated in the slot of the plate and extending through the slot of said member, a pair of ears projecting from said plate, a rotatable threaded member mounted in said ears, and a fixture mounted upon and shifted by said adjustable member and normally abutting against said plate.
