Application filed March 26, 1913. Serial No. 756,983.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J AMESB. VAN ETTEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stroudsburg, in the county of Monroe and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful 1 Improvements in Combined Stoves and Fireless Cookers, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to stoves, and more particularly to the class of combined stoves and fireless cookers.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a stove wherein a fireless cooker is built therewitlnthe latter being a part of the said stove so that it will be in a convenient position for use to receive food after having been heated by the stove.
- Another object of the invention is the provision of a stove of this character either of the gas or coal type, wherein the heat from the stove can be utilized for heating a unit which forms a part of a fireless cooker, whereby the latter can be used in the ordinary well-known manner and is a part of the stove.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a stove of thiseharacter where in food may be cooked either upon the;
stove or in a fireless cooker forming a part of the said stove, therebyobviating the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings :-Figure 1 is a fragmentary vertical longitudinal sectional view of a stove embodying the device. Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view through the stove. Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse sectional view through the cooker.

Referring to thedrawings by numerals, 5
designates generally a stove which may be either of the gas or coal type and includes a fire box and oven, as usual.
Forming a part of the stove 5 is a fireless cooker comprising a body 9 which is attached to or integrally formed with the body of the stove 5, and into this body 9 is projected a. heating unit 10 which is secured to the stove body. Formed in the body 9 ofthe fireless cooker are the usual pockets or cells 11 adapted to receive receptacles containing food to be cooked, the said pockets or cells 11 being closed at their tops by means of removable lids 12, while partially surrounding the said pockets or opening 15 in the partition 14 permitting heat circulating through the flue 8 to pass into the zone of the unit 10, whereby the latter will become heated so that food placed within the tireless cooker may be cooked by the heat radiating from the unit 10.
In Fig. 3 there is shown a slight modification of the invention, wherein the pockets 18 have removably fitted therein heating units 19 which are adapted to be extracted from the pockets and placed upon the stove for the heatingthcreof. After the units 19 have been heated on the stove the same are replaced within the pockets 18 for the cooking of food when deposited therein.
It is of course to be understood that the stove may be of any well-known type and that the fireless cooker is formed therewith to be a part of the same.
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of operation of the device Will be clearly understood, and communication therewith, and a heating 16 therefore a more extended explanation has unit fittedwithin the opening and extended been omitted. Within the pocket.
