30 I In the accompanying drawings the nu-,
for securing the bristles in place. Thisbrush ispreferablyof considerablelength as compared with its width and a pipe 10-having its outlet delivering within the bristles is arranged to'convey water to the brush. A'- drier, also forming a part of the structure, is utilized for removlng surface moisture after t5; the brush has been used for scrubbing purposes, and water distributed upon the'floor or like part in such operation; This drier consists of a mouth piece 11 having a mouth 12 through which air is drawn by the operation of the turbine 6. In the form of device herein shown for effecting this purpose I provide a head 13 to the surface of wh1ch the brushv is secured, and on one edge of conr'nnz, OF. man-01mg pomdrrcgn' f 8' cnnmnei inmates Specification of Letters rami a CORPORATION orconthe mouth piece 11 is located. This head is preferably of considerable length, as compared with ractically from end to ead has a neck 14 in with the mouth 12 and the pipe 10 also extends through this chamber. A soap recepjtacle 16ha'v1ng a suitable inlet and outlet is secured to the neck and is connected with the pipes 10 and28, a, valve 32 in the construct on shown herein constituting such wconnec- .t10n. w The outer walls of this receptacle are preferably water-tight, and while the inlet .flow and discharge. are through said. pipes, other formsof construction are contemplated The neck; is connected with a tubular support 17 from. a handle 18 to whichlthe hose 8 is connected. This connection may be made 1n any suitable manner, in the.form
herein shown a connecting tube 14 constitutmg said connection and extending into the neck 14 and into the support 17 This .handle has a chamber 19 in which a valve -20 is \located, closing the opening -to the p v a w 4 atented Sept. 29, 1914., a lication filed rebm'arj 20, 9 s fi its width or depth, the ;,mouth 12 extending -end thereof. This which .and in the head a chamber 15 is formed. vThis chamber 15 communicates tubular support 17. A. spring 21, in the construction shown, is employed to hold the .VfllVG to .its seat, .and the valve is .operated as by meansof alever 22 connected with the valve stem. .A..delivery pipe or .hose 23 extends from a source of water supply, as a .stand pipe 24, to a connection 25lattached to [the tubular support 17.. The flow of water 1 to thecleaner is controlled as by a valve 26.
The connection 25 has an extension 27 withthe tubular support 17, this extension receiving the end of atube .28 which is connected with the soap box 16. The connections between the tubular support 17 and neck 14 or connecting tube 14- and between the extension 27 and tube 28 are such as to allow the parts to have a turning movement one with respect to another and yet prevent leakage of air or water at the joints. Any wellknown form of connection for accomplishing this result may be employed.
The use of the soap box may be dispensed with in any desired manner, and'the water may be delivered directly to the brushwithout passing through said box 16 by connecting the tube 28 directly with the pipe 10. as
- thesurface of the floor.
by means of the valve 32 hereinbefore described, or any other desired means for accomplishing this result may be employed.
As shown in Fig. 3 the see. box 16 extends into the chamber 15 an has formed therein a valve chamber containing a fourway valve 32 which is operated by means of a wheel 33. From the construction shown in Fig. 3 it will be readil seen that the water may be directed into t e soap box and thence out through the pipe 10, or may be delivered directly through the pipes 28 and 10 the soap box in this instance being shut In the modified form of device shownin Fig. L the mouth piece for removing surplus water is located within the bristles of the brush, this mouth piece 29 being secured to the head 30. The edge of the mouth piece terminates in-close proximity to the end of the bristles so that when it is desired to remove the water or surplus moisture a slight pressure will cause the bristles to give sufficiently to enable the mouth piece to rest upon device a tube 34 extends along the neck 35 and into the soap box 36 into which the cleaning fluid is delivered and from which it is delivered by the pipe 31 to the bristles of the brush, the valve hereinbefore described as appurtenant to the soap box to control the flow 'of water being omitted. The other parts of this device are the same as herein- -before described with reference to the Pre ferred form.
While my invention is shown and described herein as embodied in a-certain construction, I do not limit the invention to suchconstruction, and the invention will be found to be present in various forms of construction other than is shown herein.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. A cleaner including a head. containing a chamber and having a brush and a mouth piece located appurtenant one to the other thereon, said mouth piece having a mouth opening into said chamber, a neck extending from the head into a tubular support, a con- In this form of the nection on said support for attachment of an air pipe and means for supplying water to said brush.
. 2. A cleaner including a head, a brush located on the head, a neck extending from said head, a water supply pipe extending through said neck, a mouth p1 ece"having a mouth opening intov an air chamber in said head, a tubular support to receive said neck, an extension within said supportconnected with the water supply, and means on said support for attachment of an air pipe.
3. A cleaner including a head with a brush secured thereto, a neck extending from said head, and having an air chamber, a water supply pipe extending within said neck and opening within the brush, a mouth iece having a mouth opening into the air 0 amber in the neck, a tubular support having an extension therein, said support and extension being rotatably connected with the neck and both connections communicating with the passage in said extension.
5. A cleaner including a head having a brush, means for delivering water within the brush, a suction device located appurtenant to the brush, an extension to which said brush and suction device are secured, a soap box mounted on the extension, said water supply extending through the soap box, means for connection of a water supply to water supply pipe therein, a connection forsaid supply pipe, and means for connection of an air pipe to said extension.
