Witnesses Inventor aLM'c'azzam,
At torn eys I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE IIL eQALLUM, or CROSBY, PENNSYLVANIA.
'- DOORLHAINGER TRACK.
To all whom, it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE L. MoCA LLUM, a citizen of the United Stateshiresiding at Crosby, in the county of McKean and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Door-Hanger Track, of which the i following is a specification- This invention relates to a hanger for sliding doors, and more particularly to the track portion thereof.
The object of the invention is a track in theform of "a hollow parallelepiped with. the outer and verticalwall extended to form a. downwardly extending the door supporting carriage.
WVith the foregoing and other objects in view which will ;appearas' the description proceeds, the invention resides inthe combination and arrangement of partsand in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, can be made Within- 1 the scope of what is claimed, withoutfde parting from the spirit ofthe invention.
In the drawings accompanying this specification and forming a part thereof the preferred form of my invention is illustrated.
. In said drawings:Figure 1 is a view in perspective of mydmproved door hanger.
Fig. 2 is a view 111 cross section thereof.
f Fig. 3 is a View of the channel-like blank All "mounts the same for sliding movement. The
used in the formation of the track and prior to the bending of the longer leg.
Referring to the drawings in which similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, a .door 4L is provided with theearriage 5 and manner.
, "l The track is formed as a channel iron with unequal legs as illustrated in Fig. 3 and thus may be rolled of any desired length and formed-man economical and practical man-v ner. The channel shown in the said figure includesthe legs L and L of unequal lengths and in order to shape the same into the forms illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, the chairto provide rigid relation. 1
i Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Sept, 22, 1914, Application filed June 25, 1914. Serial No. 847,310.
bent outward as at'12 to form an outwardly extending lip which prevents rain or snow from entering within the hollow track. The lower wall 11 is relatively shorter than the upper wall 10, thusdefining a restricted opening 13 communicating with the hollow interior of the track. The track as thus constructed will be in the form of a parallelepiped or quadrangular prism. This shape in addition to embodying the maximum strength, allows the same to be made of channel iron with unequal legs as described and also provides that they may be. conveniently packed in suitable lengths and will occupy a minimum space when piled one upon the other. The channel iron C is retained within the-track and forms a brace and reinforcement for the upper portion thereof.
Having thus fully described my invention, what isclaimed is Atracl; comprising a channel iron, the upper flange having a depending apron extending across the open front of the channel and defining aslot with the lower flange, a
reinforcing member fitting snugly within the channel iron contacting with the upper flange, back plate, and the said apron, and means engaging the saidchannel iron and reinforcing member, holding the same in In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto aflixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
