WILLIAM A. THOMAS, OF CHARLESTON. OKLAHOMA.
HAME AND TRACE CONNECTOR.
Application filed July 20, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, \VILLIAM A. THOMAS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Charleston, in the county of Harper, State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hame and Trace Connectors; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a hame and trace connector.
An object of the invention resides in the provision of a device which may be readily attached to the ordinary trace bolt.
A further object of the invention resides in so constructing the device that the trace P rality of points so that the line of draft may be varied.
A further object of the invention resides in constructing the device of sheet metal so that it will be cheap to manufacture and not readily broken.
With these and other objects in view, such as will appear as the description progresses, my invention comprises the combination and arrangement of parts as set forth in and falling within the scope of the appended claim.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is an elevationa'l view of my device showing the same attached to a hame; Fig.2 is a sectional view on line 22 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a view of the blank from which the device is formed.
In the embodiment of my invention shown in the drawing, the device comprises a tubular bearing member 1 which is adapted to receive the trace bolt 2 which is mounted onv the hame 3. Extending outwardly from this bearing member 1 are a plurality of arms 4, 'the ends of which are bent to form eyes 5 for the reception of a 7 bolt 6 which is removably mounted in the said eyes. formed between the arms 4 for the reception of the trace eye 8 which is shown in the drawing as located in the lowermost space and as having the bolt 6 passing Specification of Letters Patent.
A plurality of spaces 7 are Patented Apr. 4, 1916.
Serial No. 40,924.
therethrough. It will be readily understood that by the removal of the bolt 6 the trace eye may be inserted in any one of the spaces 7. The eye may be secured in these spaces upon the replacing of the bolt.
As heretofore stated the device is made of sheet metal and the ends are wrapped about each other to form the bearing member 1.
In Fig. 3 of the drawing I have illustrated the blank from which the device is 7 formed and this blank is of rectangular formation having a solid portion A at each' end thereof which when wrapped about each other form the bearing member. The blank also includes a plurality of spaced strips B which are produced by the elon- WVhile I have illustrated and described a particular embodiment of my'invention it has merely been for the sake of convenience .and I do not wish to be limited to that particular embodiment as it is obvious that numerous changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention or without exceeding thescope of the claim.
What I claim is e A hame and trace connector consisting of a sheet metal member having its ends wrapped about each other to form a tubular bearing member and having portions cut therefrom to form arms, the said arms having spaced eyes at the ends thereof and a bolt removably mounted in the said eyes.
In testimony whereof,'I afiix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM A. THOMAS.
