FlllE- UNITED %TATIE@ PATENT @FIITQE.
EDWIN L. WALKER, OF DENVER, COLORADO.
VEGETABLE-SLIOER.
weasel.
Application filed. May 19, 1915.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDWIN L. WALKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Denver, in the countyof Denver and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vegetable-Slicers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to slicers for domestic use, and chiefly for cutting up cabbages; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front end view of a vegetable slicer constructed according to this invention. Fig. 2 is a plan View of the slicer. Fig. 3 is a cross-section, taken on the line ww in Fig. 2.
This slicer is specially adapted to be clamped to the top of a kitchen table which forms a stationary guide board 2 for the cabbags or other article to be sliced. A. frame is provided and consists of two similar end plates 3 having a crossbar 4 which extends between their lower parts. Each end plate 3 has a rectangular notch or slot 5 which is slipped over the edge of the guide board 2. The crossbar 4 of the frame has a reinforcing plate 20 and a nut 6 secured to its rear and middle part, and 7 is a clamping screw which engages with the nut and with the underside of the guide board or table, and which clamps the frame securely in place.
A cutting blade 8 is arranged between the end plates of the frame, and has upwardly projecting flanges 9 at its ends. The front end of the blade has a rounded edge or bead 10, and its rear end has a cutting edge 12. The front end portion of the blade rests on lugs 14 which project laterally from the end Specification of Letters Patent.

plates of the frame, and the rear portions of the flanges 9 have thumbscrews or bolts 16 which project through slots 17 in the side plates of the frame. The thumbscrews 16 have thumbnuts 18 for clamping the blade to the frame with its cutting edge at a prearranged distance above the guide board. The slots 17 are vertical and they enable the blade to be adjusted so as to cut slices of different thickness. The rear portions of the end plates, in. rear of the cutting edge also form guides for the article to be sliced.
The cabbage or other article is slid back and forth by hand on the guide board between the end plates of the frame, and is pressed against the cutting edge of the blade to form the slices. The slices slide between the blade and the guide board, and are received in any suitable receptacle.
What I claim is:
1. In a slicer, a frame provided with end plates having slots in their rear edges adapted to slip over one edge of a table top, means for securing the frame to the table top, and a cutting blade supported between the front portions of the end plates with its cutting edge projecting rearwardly over the said notches.
2. In a slicer, a frame provided with end plates having slots in their rear edges adapted to slip over one edge of a table top, lugs projecting from the front parts of the end plates, means for securing the frame to the table top, a blade having its front part supported pivotally on the said lugs with its cutting edge projecting rearwardly over the said slots and having flanges which bear against the end plates of the frame, and means for securing the said flanges to the end plates in different positions.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
EDI/VIN L. \VALKER.
