block? Y ing thereon. ll he lower end of the tensionpiece F is provided with a projection 7" which extends under a shoulder on the stationary-piece E to give a greater bearing surface to the bottoni of said piece F, the top of said projection and the bottom of said shoulder being parallel with the tension-pin to guide said piece F. The faces of the cas D are cut away on both sides at d2 (Z3, to allow the yarn to pass between the tensionpieces without contact with the case.
lVhen the tension-piece is inserted in a threading-block and the latter is placed in the shuttle-body, said case is prevented from movement by the ears l l1 and the sides of the cavity which .holds the threadingblock.
ViThen the shuttle is threaded in the usual manner, the yarn is drawn down in the act of threading between the tension-pieces which are rounded ofil on their inner `faces at the top c3 f2 to allow the thread to enter the space between said tension-piece without difficulty.
l claim as my invention :hv
1. The combination in a loom-shuttle having a longitudinal tin-cad passage, of tension pieces arranged parallelr with said thread passage, one oi said pieces being fixed and the other movable, to admita thread between said pieces, one of said pieces having a recess, a spring arranged in said recess, a pin passing freely through said spring and said last-nan'ied piece and into the other of said pieces to compress said spring` to vary the tension thereof, and means carried by said lastnained piece to retain said pin from movement therein.
2. The combination in a loomshuttle having a longitudinal passage, of tension pieces arranged parallel with said thread passage, one of said pieces beingsr fixed and the other movable, to admit a thread between said pieces, one of said pieces having a recess, a
tudinal thread-passage and a hole trans-- versely ol' said passage and having depressions, of a case adapted to iill said hole and in use to be retained therein by the sides of said cavity and having` ears to enter the depressions in said block, tension-pieces, one of which is rigidly'in said case and the other of which is movable therein, the adjacent faces oit said tension-pieces being parallel with said thread-passage, and a spring to force said movable piece toward said rigid piece.
si. The combination in a loom-shuttle of a threading-block having a longitudinal thread-passage and a hole transversely of .said passage, a case adapted to tit said hole, tension-pieces arranged in said case, `one of said pieces being rigidly secured in said case and having a transverse hole and a recess at the outer end of said hole and concentric with said hole, and having a shoulder, and the other of said pieces having a projection which extends under said shoulder and bears on the under surface thereof, a tension-pin parallel with the contiguous surfaces of said' shoulder and projection and adjustably secured in said lastnained tension-piece and extending through said transverse hole into said recess and having a head Within said recess, and a spring compressed between said head and the bottom of said recess.
In witness whereof, I have alixed my signature in presence 'of two witnesses.
