which the following is a specification. l
My invention relates to improvements 1n cooking stovesand it consists 1n the combinations, constructions and ,arrangements herein described and claimed.
An object of my invention is to provide` a device for cooking purposes which will make use of either solid or gaseous fuel with?. means for protecting the gas burners lwhen solid fuel is used. with the device.
further object of my invention is to provide a device in which the change from a solid fuel stove to one which uses gaseous fuel may be quickly and easily made.
A furthergobject of my invention is to provide a combined stove in which the prod'- ucts of combustion of the solid fuel and those of the gaseous fuel are made to take a tortuous path around ovens thereby heating the latter and economizing in the use of fuel due to the fact that a greater proportgion of heat is abstracted from the prodnets of combustion during their travel than in the ordinary" stove.

In carrying out my invention I provide a casing l at one end of the device, containing a tire box 'or combustion chamber 2, a grate 3, and an ash pit el. Joining the top of the combustion chamber and extending to the opposite end of the stove is the lower wall 5 of the passage 6 for the products of combustion. As will be seen from Fig. 5 openings 7X are provided in the upper wall 7 of the passage 6, these openings being situated in alinement with the space between the ovens and the casing 15. Between the ovens lgand 14C are inwardly extending baille 'plates 16 and above' the oven 13 is a. forwardly ex'- tendi'ng balle plate 17. An exit flue 18 is disposed at the rear of the upper part of the casing 15. Air inlets 19 are provided in the sides of the casing 15 near the bottom thereandvll; respectively are arranged withina casing 15 which f of, these air inlets being controlled by damf pers 20.
Referringnow particularly to Figs. 4 and` 5 it will be seen that I have provided a pair of gaseous fuel burners 21 and 22, which are directlyunderneath the stove openings normally covered by the lids 21X'and 22X respectively. These burners are' disposed in housings such as those shown at 21y and 22% carried b v the wall 5. Over each burner is disposed aplate23 which is pivotally connected with the wall 5 and is adapted tobe swung outof the way of the burner when the latter is used and to be swung over'the burner to protect the latter when the solid fuel is being used.
