Be it known thatwe, CHARMES H. Brown'y and CHARLES C. PARKER, citizens of the United States, residing at Erreka, in the county of Juab, State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful llmprovements in @re-Separatore; and we do hereby de- Clare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

Referring to the drawing the invention is shown as comprising a casing A having a conical lower endO and a reduced upper end 11. rihe outer'end of the portion 10 of the casing terminates in an outlet mouth 12. Leading from the reduced upper end 11 of the casing A is an air inlet pipe 13, while a material inlet pipe 14 enters the top of the yreduced upper end 11 and terminates in a depending portion 15 disposed within the casing A and extending longitudinally of the latter.' lRotatably mounted in the top of the reduced upper end 11 of the casing and extending through the portion 15 of the material inlet pipe 14 is a shaft 16 which has fixed on its lower end within the casing a conical spreader 17. This shaft 1t? is adapted to be rotated through the medium of connection with any suitable source of power. Disposed within the casing A beneath the spreader 17 is a conical casing 18 having an opening 19 in its upper end and an opening 20 in its lower end. Extending laterally 'rom the casing 18 and passing through the wall of the casing A is a pipe 21 which communicates with the interior of a casing 22 which latter has mounted there- 1n a suction fan 23 adapted to be rotated throueh the medium of connection with any suitable source of power. 1t will thus be obvious that the interior of the casing 18 is connected directly with the interior of the casing 22 through the medium of the pipe 21. The casing 22 is in turn connected by a pipe 25 with a dust collector 26.
In operation of the device the fan 23 and the spreader 17 are simultaneously rotated. Material supplied by the pipe 14 will fall upon the top of the 'spreader 17 and by force of the air current entering through the pipe 13 the sand or ore is not only agitated and dried, but the separation of the heavier particles .from the lighter particles, the lighter particles of gold or other metals being separated at the bottom of the spreader 17 and there being taken into the interior of the casing 18 through the openingA 19, such particles then being forced by the action of the fan 23 through the pipes 21 and 25 into the dust collector 26 at which latter point the product is held until removed.
The coarser material or waste after being separated from the metal, as previously described, drops into the lower portion 10 of the casing A-and is discharged through the outlet 12. 1t will also be noted that owing to the presence of the opening 20 in the lower-.end of the casing 18 a blast of air will pass inwardly through the outlet 12 and will serve to draw up and save any fine dust or material that might possibly pass downward in the casing A beyond the upper end of the casing 18.
