Description

W. 1. LEE.
CLEANER FOR ROLLING COLTERS. APPLICATION FILED JULYB, 19:4.
Patented J une 8, 1915.
"t ants-r U EVALDC: JONATHAN LEE, OF MIUNSGN, ALBERTA, CANADA, ASSIGNOR 0F GNE-HALF T0 AXLL QLSEN, 0R3 MUNSON, ALBEBTA CANADA.
CLEANER 356R ROLLING COLTERE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
rat-elites aims 8 19115.
Application filed July 3, 191%. Serial No. 848,920.
lie it known that I, YV ALDO J. LEE, a subjci-t oi' the King of Great Britain. residing; at Iilunson, in the Province 0% Alberta and the Dominion oi? Canadzn have invented a new and useful Improvement in Cleaners lor Rolling Colters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a spring pressed cleaner for rolling coltcrs in which the scrapers orclcaning members at an angle t the sides of the colter, and are held. in yielding engagement with the colter :by moans of suitable arranged springs.
The invention also consists in the novel features of construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described, pointed out in the claims and shown in the accompanying drawings, in \i'hich:
Figure 1 is a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a plan View. Fig. 3is a sectional front elevation, andFig. 4 is a cross section through a clamping bar.
in these drawings 1 is the colter journaled in the usual forked frame 2. Bars 3 rest transversely across the frame 2. said bars being longitudinally slotted as shown ato, and the top bars, or both if desired to make them interchangeable, are recessed on their inner faces as shown at (i in Fig. 4- to receive bolt heads. Bolts 7 pass tl1I'()"2;l1 these bars and also through suitable wedges l, and connect the bars to each other.
Resting on the upper bar 3, and transverse thereto are bars 8 longitudinally slotted as shown at 9, and locked to. the tog) bar 3 by bolts 9, the heads of which rest in the recesses 6 so as to clear the frame The bars 8 are rounded adjacent their free ends and upon these cylindrical p0rtions are rotatably mounted arms 1'! which carry sci .qiors or cleaning members 12, that engage opposite sidesct the eolter. 'llhese cleaning members are yieldably pressed against the colter by means of springs 13 coiled about the bars and having each an end portion hearing on an arm 11. v
The arms and scrapers set at an acute angle to the vertical sides of the colter, extending upwardly and inwardly from the bars l The use and advantages of a device of this construction will be obvious to those skilled in the operation of rolling colters.
What I claim is:
l. The combination with a rolling eolter, of bars extending in substantially horizontal planes parallel to and on opposite sides of said colter, arms pivotally mounted on the bars and adapted to swing in a vertical plane springs bearing respectively on the bars and the arms, and cleaning members carried by the arms.
2. The combination with a rolling eolter and its frame, of bars clamped thereto, a second set of bars adjnstably arranged on the uppermost'ot' the first mentioned bars, and extending parallel to and on opposite sides of the colter springs carried by said second mentioned bars, arms extending in \vardly and upwardly from said second men tioned bars, and loosely mounted thereon, and scrapers carried by said arms, said springs bearin on said arms.
