NOEL L. ANTHONY, OF CRANSTON, RHODE ISLAND.-
COIN-HOLDER.
Application filed December 8, 1911. Serial No. 664,659.
I ANTHONY, a citizen, of the United States, residing at Crans'ton, in the county of Providence and State of RhodeIsland, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Coin-Holders, .of
Tliis invention. pertains to certain new and has for its object to provide a coin holder which is in the form of a pocketpa-per currency, halves, quarters, dimes, nicksec'tions of the device are opened for the purooins, no danger of the coins dropping .out oftheir respective compartments will exist.
A further object ofthe invention is to provide a simple and economical structure bled with minimum expense to thereby proproduced for the market with small cost.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device in completely opened poin closed position, and Fig.3 is a section takenon the line 33 of Fig. 2-.
The device is formed to have a substanti'ally rectangular base member 1 that has end extensions 2 the inner faces of which are padded as indicated at 3, the padding being coverfiaps which are folded inwardly and which meet at their inner ends when in closed position. The base 1 carries a block 4: thatmay be formed of wood or any other suitable material and is secured to the base in any suitable way, the block 4. being formed with a series of eompartments o of C-shape which ing through an end or side of the block, so that when a coin or coins are placed'in the compartments an edgeflpf the same will ex-' tend beyond an end or side of the block thus providing a portion which-can be grasped by the .fingers to raise the coin upout of its As depicted in'Fig. 1 of the drawings the compartments are .made of varying diameters so that coins of different Specification of Letters Patent.
values and denominations can be used, such Patented July 9, 1912.
as halves, quarters, dimes, niokels arid pen mes. I Extending across thebase 1 at right an gles thereto is the cover proper which consists of a central portion 6 and extensions 7 7 which latter have clasp fastening means 8 8 of the head and socket type connected thereto to permit the extensions 7 7 to be connected in a manner depicted in Fig. 2 of the drawings. The padding 3 of the end :coverfiaps 2 2 does not extend entirely throughout the area of samebut terminates short of the inner end portions thereof, so that when the parts are in the position shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings the padding 3 will extend over the block at and thus be in position to engage with the coins that occupy the compartments 5. The central portion (3 of the cover properis secured at its ends and one side thereof to the. base member 1 so as to leave its opposite sideopen, thus forming a pocket 9 in conjunction with the base member 1, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3 of the drawings, which pocket can receive bills, cards or other similar articles.
From the above it will be seen that the from the opposite sides and ends of the 7 block 1 and when folded to engage thereover securely retain the coins in the several compartments thereof. In addition a bill pocket is provided which is convenient to retain bills, cards and the like, and the same is effectively closed when the parts occupy the position illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings. The coins ofvarious denominations are thus securely held in separate compartmelits where they are readily accessible for purpose of 'removal, and a purse is presented which is exceedingly convenient and which holds the coins against rattling in asecure manner.
Having ,thus. described my invention, I claim, as new and secure by :Letters Patcnt:--
1. A coin and bill purse consisting of a flexible base member having end extensions, a block secured to said base member'be'tween theextensions thereof and formed with a plurality of C-shaped openings which extend through the sides and end of the block to hold coins of various denominations, a cover proper having a central portion secured at one side and both of its ends to said base member and having its other side open to form a bill or card receiving poeket'in CUDJHHCUOH with the base member said cover proper also having extensions provided with fastening means, and padding secured to the end extensions of the base member and adapted to engage on the top face of the block.
2. A coin and bill purse consisting of a flexible base member having end extensions, :1 block having coin eon'ipartments secured to said base member between the extensions thereof, and aeoi'er proper disposed at right angles to said base member having a central portion secured at one side and both of its ends to said base member and having two subscribing witnesses; A
