Be itknown that I, ADoLr Soi-rwrnenn,
. a subject of the Emperor of Germanyre siding at Hanover, in Germany, have iiivented certain new and usefulv Improvements in CigarCases,.of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to cigar cases, and substantially consists in combining 4cigar cases combined with appliances for lighting cigars and cigarettes and for cutting of the tips of cigars. I
Several embodiments of the invention .are shown in the accompanying. drawing -in which-w Figure 1 is a perspective elevation of a case wherein the cutter forms part of the fastening. Fig. Q shows part of a case with cutter pivoted to the frame thereof. Fig. 3 shows a cutter attached to a case of another type, and serving as a fastening for same.'
Referring in the firstplacevto'Fig. l, the knifea comprises a blade which is adapted toenter a slot b in the frame 2 of the case,
p said bladebeing formed on a spngy shank 8 :fixed to the same frame part. The rear or lower end of the shank 3 forms a catch c adapted to engage the slotted part d of the traine-part i. A match-holder e adapt.- ed 'to contain a fiat strip of matches is attached to the case, and has a flexible cover fprovided with a lug 71 which is adapted to enter a slot` g for fastening purposes.
In Fig. 2 the cutter alfis pivoted to the frame 5, the part to which it is pivoted hav'- ing a gap 6 which formsa seat for the cigarend to be cut. A similar seat may be formed on the oppositel frame-part 7, to register with the seat 6 when the case is closed.
Fig. 3 shows the cutter a3 pivoted to a l vmetal mount 8 onone lip of the mouth of the case, the latter being of the bag type. rI`he cutter is bent `to 'extend across the mouth, so that! the blade descends on the oplip. A catch 10 at the free end of the cutter is adapted to embrace both the mounts 8 and 9, and thus close the case, the fastening be- -posite side of a mount 9 iXed to the other l. In combination with a cigar case, a
cigar cutter disposed on the edges thereof and comprising a shank pivotally secured to said ease, aknife disposed. at one end of said shank and arranged to move in and out of aslot provided in one of said edges, said shank heilig provided with means for locking said edges together after said knife is disposed Within said slot.
2. In combination' with' a cigar case, a cigar cutter disposed on ,the inner edge por,- tion thereof and comprising a'shank pivotally mounted thereon, a cigar knife inte-- grally connected to the end of said shank and arranged to move iny and outof a slot Y provided in the edge portion of said cigar case that the shank is attached to, a lock integrally mounted at the other end of said shank and arranged to actuate within a slot provided in the opposite edge portion of' said case, said lock being providedwith a resilient hook arranged to engage with the outside surface of said case when said cigar case is closed," substantially as described.
'In witness whereof I have signed this' specication in the presence of two witnesses.
