UNITED STATES T OFFICE.
HENRY JACOBS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
REDUCING-CORSET.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY J ACOBS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Reducing-Corset, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a new and improved form of reducing corset, and an object of my invention is to provide a corset of any well-known construction so arranged and constructed as to permit a perspiring process to reduce obesity.
I. attain the above outlined object by disposing pads of rubberized fabric about the skirt portion of the corset, and, if desired, this fabric may also be applied to the breast thereof.
With the above and other objects in view, as will more fully hereinafter appear, the present invention consists in certain novel details of construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures, and in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a preferred embodiment of my invention in position on the wearer; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the inside of the corset in open position; and Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
In the several figures, I have shown a common form of corset t of the general twopart construction, having the fasteninglacing 5 and stay-ribs 6. In order to afford ventilation, there is disposed about the cor- Specification of Letters Patent.

set parallel with the waist line, a series of air vents perforated through the fabric 9 of the corset between the stay ribs 6. A similar series of air vents 10 is disposed adjacent the lower edge 11 of each half of the corset. Disposed on each side of the front of the corset are abdominal pads 12 of any suitable rubberized fabric, which pads are designed and shaped to fit over the abdomen. Separated from the abdominal pads and disposed in the rear of the corset are two buttock pads 13, so spaced from said abdominal pads as to render the lower part of the corset flexible. As is well known, rubberized fabric covering the pores of the skin, will induce perspiration, which perspiration will have the effect of reducing surplus fat on those portions of the body covered by said fabric.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A corset having two lines of air vents, one about the waist and the other about the lower edge of the skirt of the corset, and a series of separate pads composed of rubberized fabric fastened to the underside of said corset and disposed between said lines of vents, whereby ventilation will be afforded adjacent the pads, said pads comprising a pair of front pads adapted to fit the abdomen and a pair of rear pads adapted to fit the buttock, said pads separated from each other, to render the lower part of the corset flexible.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HENRY JACOBS.
