To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, MORTIMER NORDEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at the borough of Manhattan, in-the city, county, and State of New 'York, haveinvented an Improvement in Electric-Lamp Spckets, of
which'the following is a specification.
My invention relates to sockets or receptacles for lamps so constructed as to facili; tate their attachment to and supportv upon illuminated signs which are electrically lightcd and employed for display for advertising, or other similar purpose, and particularly to that class of signs wherein a sheet metal late .with series of openings therein agreeing with the number and positions of the incandescent lamps has been employed. In such signs it has been custdmary to employ a shallow box or boxes upon the base or bases of which the lamp sockets-or receptacles are secured and wired to conductors passing out through the bases.
The object pf my present invention is to provide the sockets or receptacles with means for connecting them to the front plate or plates of such box or boxes within the openings therein, or to a single sheet metal supporting base common to'all the lamps.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 shows in elevation a' lamp receptacle at tached to a plate according to my invention.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same, and centrally thereof. Fig. 3 is an elevatlon of the lamp receptacle removed from the .1, and Fig. 6 is an elevation of the lamp receptacle removed from the plate, showing a modification in the annular groove.

I claim as my invention:
' 1. A receptacle for an incandescent electric lamp comprising a body portion and head of increased diameter, the body portion being formed with a single longitudinal groove and a single transverse groove, a single screw hole in said head alining with the single longitudinal groove in the body portion and the same thus adapted for connection by'a screw with a support.
2. A receptacle for an incandescent electric lamp comprising abodyportion and head of increased diameter, the body por tion having a single longitudinal groove and a single circumferentialgroove at its inter section with the head, a single hole in said head alming with the. single longitudinal groove in the body portion and the same thus adapted for connection by a screw with a support.
3. In an electrically illuminated sign, and in combination, a receptacle foran incandescent electric lamp comprising a. body portion and head of increased diameter, the body portion being formed with a single longitudinal groove and a single transverse groove, a'single screw hole in said head alining with the single longitudinal groove in the body ortion, a plate having an opening therein a apted to. receive the body portion of said receptacle and enter said transverse groove, and a screw to enter said hole in the head of the receptacle and lock said receptacle to said plate.
4. In an electrically illiiminatedsign and I in'c'ombination, a receptacle for an incandes cent electric lamp comprising a body por tion and 'head of increased dlameter, the
