The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part o the same To allie-hom.` it may concern .Beit known that we, S. THOMPSON .BARTON and JOHN W. AFFRON, of N ew Orleans, in the parish of the artto make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming 'part of this specification, in whioh- Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a portion of a trunk provided with my improved fastening.

cheap, and secure fastening for the same.

It consists in a turn-button Ona plate to which the liasp is to be fastened, provided with a. hole through which a spring bolt may be passed after the button has been turned-to the iight position for holding the n hasp, and aA bracket on the saidplate, through which theend of the said bolt may also be passed, to prevent the button being turned, as will be more fully described On reference to the accompanying drawings,
wherein- A represents a-plate, which in this instance is secured to the body of a trunk, and is provided with a button, B, and a fixed lug, C.
The button is provided with ahole, d, for the bolt i D,'and the holes b for a tape or wire to vbe sealed.
The bracket C is also provided with a hole for thel end of the bolt.
The bolt D is provided with a bracket, a, which is lalso perforated with holes coinciding with the holes b in the button B. n
E represents a hasp secured to the cover of the trunk, and provided with a slot for the reception of the button-head i-n the usual manner.
When the hasplhas been slipper/Louer-'the button, and thelatterturncd-to thep'sition shown in igs. 1 and 2, the bolt D is slipped through the hole d and the lower end inserted in `the hole in the lng O, whereby the button is prevented from being turned.
A looped strip of sheet metal, F, may then be` insorted in the holes b through the button and the bracket of the bolt, and the ends secured by a metal-v lic seal, as shown in iig. 2.
Having thus described our invention,
