This invention relates to an imin'ovenicnt in buckles, and while adapted for various purposes, it particularly designed for use as a belt buckle, and to that class ot belt buckles which comprise a plate, a` housing', and a sliding` clampingzypiece `within the housing.

A. buckle comprising' a plate formed with a clearance space, a housing' secured to said plate, said housing` 'formed on opposite sides with slots, a clamping-piece within said housing and formed with fingerpieces projecting' outward through said slots, said clan1pingpiecc provided with a springiinn'er adapted to bear upon the said plate and to enter the clearancespace therein.
