many, have invented new and useful Improvementsin Adjusting Devices for Pattern-"Cylinders of Printingdlllachines, of which the following is a specification.

This adjustment of the cylinders, particularly in multicolor printing machines, was Very tedious and the adjustment for the correct printing of the patterns in such machines could only be effected by skilled printers.
According to the presentinvention the method of setting the pattern cylinders 1s such that the adjustment of the patterns becomes scarcely a matter for the printer and the working of multicolor p hinting machines presents no further difficultly, as the masterprinterno longer needs tch employ skilled men for this particular wprk. The usual regulator mechanism is no er employed according to the present inve tron for adjusting the patterns, but only in the last stagefor eliminating any irregularities due to faulty work by the die sinker.

In a rotary printing machine having an impresslon cylinder and a plurality of pattern cylinders with driving mechanism menses therefor, the combination with the impression cylinder end the pattern cylinders of means "for locking the impression cylinder U1 the respectlve positions with a particular transverse line thereon opposite to each of the respective pattern cylinders, means for setting and locking each pattern cylinder on its driving shaft with a, corresponding transerse line in the pattern of each opposite the line on the impression cylinder, a sliding hearing supportlng one end of each pattern cylinder, and levers adapted to move said hearings laterally, whereby lateral adjustments of the pattern cylinders are effected.
