' To all-whom it may concern Be it known that I, VINGENZO'MANCINI, a subject of the King. of Italy, residing at Schenectady, county of Schenectady, and
State of New York, have invented certain" new and useful Improvements in Springv I Wheels, of which the following is a specifi cation.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a view in side elevation of a spring-wheel embodying one form of my invention, the wheel being partly broken away and shown partly in vertical section for convenience of illustration. Fig. 2 is asimilar view of a spring-wheel embodying another form of my invention. Fig. 3 is a central cross-section of the wheel shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 4. is a plan view of a broken-away portion of the rim forming part of the central-body of the wheel shown 1n Fig. 1.. Fig. 5 is a plan view of the hub of the wheel shown in Fig. 1.- Fig. 6 is a for connecting the rigid spokes with the rim of the central bodyof the wheel shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 7 is a similar view of the same showing the rocker-slideway and the seat therefor in position upon said socket-plate.

The principal object of the invention is to produce a simple and eilicient spring-wheel.

The rocker-seat, 15, is connected by resilient rods, 17, with the hub, 3, said rodsbeing adapted to yicldingly support the respective rocker-seats, 15, with the slide-members, 10, extending in radial lines and. the outer rim, 1, concentric with the axis of the wheel.
Each rocker-slideway, 16, is in the form of a. middle segment of a circular disk, provided with a slideway aperture, 18, for the member, 10; and the rocker-seat, 15,*is of similar circular form so that when the rocker-slideway has been inserted endwise into the seat and then turned to bring its aperture, 18, into position to receive the member, 10, the rocker-slideway will be re-' taincd by the seat with freedom to rock thereon. p
The rods, 17, are formed in pairs connected together at their inner ends, the inno! end of each pair being inserted within an opening, 20, in the hub, 3, and held therein by a screw-bolt, 19.
The inner rim is provided with apertures, 21, alternating with the slots, 12, through which apertures, 21, the rods, 17, can be inserted or removed in pairs.

The resilient rods, 17, constitute springmembers which act through the slide-mem- 10, to yieldingly maintain the rim concentric with the axis of the wheel.
When the wheel is under load, as shown in Fig. 1, the outer rim, 1, is forced upward relatively to the central body of the wheel causing such-of the rods, 17, as are not substantially vertical, to bend more or less in response to, while yieldingly resisting, the movement of the slide-members, 10.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- 1. A spring-wheel comprising a central body, a rim encircling said central body, slide-members severally having a connection with said rim, and a pivotal connection with said body capable of movement toward and from the center thereof, rockerslideways for the respective slide-members mounted in connection with body with freedom for limited reciprocating movement in a plane at right angles to the axis of the wheel, and resilient rods rigidly connected at their inner ends to said central body and having their outer ends connected with the respective rocker-slideways.

In a spring-wheel and in'combination an outer rim, an inner rim; a hub; rigid spoke connections between said hub and in ner rim; blocks slidably guided by the respective spokes; resilient rods rigidly-connected at their inner ends to said hub; rocker-slideways, each connected with the outer end of a plurality of said resilient rods with freedom for limited reciprocating movement in a plane at right angles to the axis of the wheel; and slide-members movable through the respective rocker-slideways and pivotally connected at their outer ends to the outer rim and at their inner ends to the respective slide-blocks.
