To all whom t may conce/m i Be it known that l", CARL l-l. Syracuse, in the county or Onondaga an State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Casing for Incandescent- Electric-Lamp Sockets, of which the following is a specification.
rlhis invention has for its object the production of a casing for incandescent electric lamp sockets, which can be readily applied to, and removedfrom, it consists inthe combinations and constructions hereinafter set forth and claimed ln describing this invention reference is had to the accompanying drawing inwhich like characters designate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure l is an unassembled View or the members ci the casing, the cap member being shown in section and the lower portion of the shell member being broken away. Fig. 2 is a fragmentary sectional view illustrating the position of the cap and shell members prior to the interlocking of the shoulders thereof. Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig.. 2 illustrating the position of the parts when such shoulders are interlocked. Fig. 4 is a section on line Ar-A Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is an end view of the capf` member looking upwardly. or the shell member looking downwardly. Fig. 7 is a detail view of the ring associated with the cap member.
This casing for incandescent electric lamp sockets comprises a shell member and a cap member, one being formed with an internal annular groove and having shoulders associated therewith and projected inwardly into the groove, and the other member being formed with peripheral shoulders near one end thereof for interlocking with the irst-mentioned shoulders, the cap and shell members having successive axial and partial rotative movements relatively to each other lor interlocking said shoulders.
In this. embodiment of my invention the cap member is formed with a groove and internal shoulders and the shell member with peripheral shoulders. Y

Fig. 6 is anend view with inwardly facing notches 6 at its lower end. Usually a ring 7 is fitted within the dgrcove 5, such ring having a series of inwardly projecting shoulders 8 pressed therefrom. The-se shoulders are usually formed by slitting the ring horizontally once for each shoulder and pressing inwardly the portions of the ring below the slits. The cap-member isalso formed with a suitable coupling 9 by means of which the casing is secured to. the supporting xture.
The shelll member 2 is formed with downwardly facing shoulders 10 near its 'upper end, the upper end portion'll of the shell member being designed to lit. into the intermediate cylindrical portion 3 of the cap member (Fig. 3) by an axial movement of the members l, 2, the shoulders l0 during such axial movement Ypassing between shoulders 8 of the ring 7 and being moved into interlocking engagement therewith by partial rotation of the shell member. The shell member 2 is also formed with a spring catch 12 in the form of a tongue struck from the shell member, said catch being designed to snap into one of the notches 6 when the shoulders 10 interlock with the shoulders 8. rlhe shoulders l0 are formed in the shell member in the Asame manner as the shoulders 8 are formed in the ringV 7.

A casing for incandescent electric lamp sockets comprising a shell member and-a cap member, the cap'member being provided with an internal ring of sheet metal formed with a plurality of inwardly rojecting shoulders' spaced apart, and the sliell member being formed with external projecting shoulders, the shoulders of the shell and cap being movable 'into interlocking engagement by successive axial and partial rotary movements of said members, and each shoulder being formed by forming the part provided therewith with al slit extending circumferentially thereof and 'displacing the metal adjacent said slit to project from said part, substantially as andvfor the purpose 4signed my'name in the presence of two attesting witnesses, at Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, in the State of New York, this 13th day of January, 1911.
