'l'he Schedule referred to in these' LettersPatent and making part of the same- I, HARVEY FoWLEu, of the city of Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented a certain new and improved Mechanical Hand-Motor, of.. which lulns, one on each side of the standard, position ot'-l springs, &c.

In the drawing- A is an oscillating vertical standard, supported upon a pivot, (t, at or near its center.

B is an auxiliary standard or arm,hinged or jointed to standardA, and bearing upon pivots b b near the top oroutcr extremity ofthe same, twopendulums, D l), one von either side thereof, or the pendulum may he supported upon the main standard A,- if preferred.

E, in such manner 'that it will sway away from its supporting standard A, and return at each swing and ret-urn of the pendulum by force of the gravity there-4 of'. v

From the weighted part of' cach of said pendulums an elastic cord, c c, made from coil springs, with arod or rope running through the'same, and also asbeat-h, if required, (see ligure, x, in the drawing,) passes up to a point of support, p, above the pivot upon which said pendulums are supported.

These cords are 'designed for the purpose of holdthe relative posiing said pendulums suspended or poised ou either side of the said pivot or pivots upouwhicb they swing.' p

Also, pivoted or hinged to said standard A,a`t1ts foot', is a shaft or pitman, G, extending to and connected wit-l1 a crank, H, for the purpose of giving vmotion to machinery, or. to the driving wheels of a cari or carriage, and this shaft or pitman may be attached to lstandard A, above its pivot, if preferred, said pivot being, in such ease, at the foot of said standard.

What Iclaim asl my invention is- 1. The combination of weighted swinging levers or pendulums, the same being supported upon an oscillating standard or arm thereof, with elastic suspen-Vv sol'y cords,'substantially as and for the purpose described.' Y

2. The elastic coil springs, or' equivalent device, in, l

combination with the pendulum', substantially as and for the purpose described.

3. The combination ot the above-.described pendu` lum with an auxiliary standard, hinged and supported upon coil or other springs, for thevpurposeof extend- ,ing the reach of vsaid pendulums, and of facilitating their altcrnatin g movement, substantially as described.
