M. W. WISMER.
RBXNPORCBMENT POR COLLAR BUTTONHOLBS.
APPLICATION LLED JAN. 14, 19H).
1,074,077. Patented Sept. 23, 1913.
tearing of the collar as well as supplying a `been illustrated a simple and preferred omplates are each provided with suitable open- MICHAEL W'. VVISMER, OIF DGTILESIOWN, PENNSYLVANUL REINFORCEMENT .FOR COLLAR-BUTTDNllOLlT-S.
Application filed January 14 To all who/ml it may concern Be it known that I, Miei-[Ann iV. WlsMnn, a citizen of the United States7 residing at Doylestown, in the county ot' Backs 'and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Reinforcements for Coliar-Bnttonholes, oil' which the 't',: llow ing' is a specification.
This invention relates' to improvements in reinforcements :t'or collar button holes, and the object of the invention is to provide a device ot' this character which will prevent reliable and permanent support 'tor the collar button.
`With the above, and other ohjccts in view, which will appear as the description progresses, the invention resides in the novel construction and arrangement ol' parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawingsI there has bodimentof the im prov'ement,1 and in which drawings,
Figaro 1 is a perspective view ot a collar having its button hole provided with my reinforcement, Fig. 2 is a cross sectional View of theV collar provided with the irnprovement. `Fig. 3 is a perspective view ot' the plate having notches in the edge snrrounding the button receiving opening. Fig. 4 is a perspective -view of the plate having spurs to match with the notches ot the coinplernental plate.
In the accompanying drawings the nn meral l designates a collar oft' any ordinary or desired construction, the same being provided Wit'h the usual button recci ng holes which, in the present instance, are reinforced with my improved device designated by the numeral 2. In the improved device illus trated in'the drawings, the reinforcement comprises a pairy ol plates 2 and 3. The
ings which are adapted 'for the reception of the resilient head oil a collar button such as is designated by the numeral 4. The upper plate 2 is provided adjacent its central open4 ing with a plurality ot' notches 5, while the under plate 3 is also provided adjacent its central opening 'with a plurality ot' nptnrncd fingers or spurs 6. lVhen the members are positioned upon the collar, the spurs (i are Specilcationof .Letters atent.

inserted within the notches and bent over matching spurs and notches, the spurs also serving' to prevent lcrninp; ot' the reinforcement h v lligzlp'inp, the edge portion ot the material bordering npon the linttonhole. 'lhe inner edge ol' the rein forced linttonhole is smooth h v reason ol' the spurs t3 ol' one platc tilting' snugly within the witches 5 ot the other plate. is immaterial. ln Fin, t the spurs are shown hlnnt and in Fin'. kl pointed,
From the almvedeseription, taken in connection with the accom]ianlvinnr drawings, it will be noted that l have provided an extremely sinlplc and ell'ective device 'for the purpose internled, and while have illustrated and deserihed the preferred embodiment of the ilnln'ovement, as it now appears to me, minor details ol' construction within the scope ol the l'ollowime claim may be resorted to it desired.
Having (hns I'nlly described the invention, `what Al claim as new laynew article ot' maant-aclarethe same eonsistiing` ot' a metal reintort-ement t'or a` button hole Vl'or a collar, the reint'orcement consislim;v ot conlplenienlal metal plates placed upon opposite sides ot' the collar and having openings in registra' with the openl ings ol' the lsaid collar. one ot said plates hav ingr noli-hes at intervals in the edge slirronndinpY the opening and the other plate having spurs projecting therefrom in line with the edge ol th'eopeninnj and in position and mnnher lo register with the notches ol the first mentioned plate, said spnrsffgxtenfiling lhronigh the opening otthe collar and tllrong'h the notches ot thiA first nlentiimed plate and havinpr their projeotiing, ends clenched, thereby holding the reinforcing; plates` in position.
ln tcstinn'inv whereoit I atlix my signature in prese-nce ot' two witnes.
