UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MONROE GUETT, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE HART & HEGEMAN MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, A CORPORATION OF CONNECTICUT.
ELECTRIC SWITCH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 5,1913.
' To. all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MONROE GUE'rT, a
' citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Electric Switches, of which the following .,isa specification.
having features ofnoveltyand advantage. In the drawingsFigure 1 is 'azside' elevation of a switch embodying my invention,
the receptacle being shown in cen'tralvertical section. Fig. 2 is a top view ofithe switch mechanism. Fig. 3 is a sideelevation of the switch mechanism similar to Fig. 1, but with some parts removed to show construction. Fig. dis an edge view of the switch mechanism.
Referring to the drawings 1 denotes the spindle on which is loosely mounted a segmental gear 2 having teeth on diametrically. opposite sides adapted to engage the racks 3, 4 attached to the. push buttons fi, 6, the push buttons and racks being utilized to turn the gear. The longitudinal movement of the racks is guided and limited by the frame plates 7, 7 which are slotted as at 8 and are connected together by rivets 9 which ride in slots 10 in the'racks. Fastened to I the spindle are a pair of arms 15, 20 on the u per end of which is mounted the oil'- push buttons, the racks are provided with engaging fingers 35,36 which are adaptedto interlock with the lugs 17, 22 respectively, on the arms 15, 20, these fingers traveling.
Copies of this patent may be obtained for by and releasing the lugs 17, 22 after the throwing spring has beenwound up, with the result that the contact 25 is-.m0ved from one position to another' withaquick snap action. v. g,
This construction; is extremely" simple and pii'ective and very compact. It'-1is .particu- The objectof this invention is to produce an electric switch-of the push button type;
daptefd for. use in pendant. 'st titches ously the utility of the invention is ted-to such a structure.
claim as my invention:
Ina device of the. character described, a spindle, a. gea-rmounted thereon, sliding racks f meshing with said gearatopposite points, a
pushbutton secured at theend ofeach rack. an engagmg pro ection at ,tlie opposite end of each rack, said, push buttons :and' engagingprojections being at oppositessides of the sp ndle, a contact carrler mounted on the spindle and projecting therefrom on the side opposite the push buttons, engaging projections on the carrier adapted to operate one at a time with the engaging projections on the racks, a throwing-s ring, and spring-engaging project-ions on tii and gear. I
2. In a device of the character described, av spindle, a gear mounted thereon, push buttons 'at one side of the spindle, racks secured to'the push buttons and meshingwith said gear at. opposite sides, a pair-oi arm'smounted on the spindle pro ecting to the side e carrier thereof opposite the push buttonS Q'a contact mounted on said arms, engagln Jugs projecting from the inner surfaces 0 said arms,
engaging-fingers at the ends of said racks projecting between said arms and adapted to cooperate with-said lugs one at a time, a throwing-spring and spring-engag'ng projections on said carrier and gear.
