Be it known that I, KIRK D. PIERCE, citizen of the United States, residing at Hillsboro, inthe county of Hillsboro and State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bed Atta chments, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to a device which is intended to be connectedwith a bed so that the coverings may be thoroughly aired in the mornlng.

The principal object of this invention is to provide a device of the character describedwhich may be easily moved to a suitable position when it isdesired to use the same.

Another object of this invention is to pro"- vide' a device which may be slipped beneath the bed when not in use.

' Another object of this invention is to provide an improved type of bracket for removably connecting the device with the bed, and which is so constructed that the sliding arms may be securely held in a raised posi-' tion.

By referring to theaccompanying drawings, it will be seen that this invention is used in connection with a bed which ma be of any desired type but which in the orin shown in Fig. 1 must be 'rovided with a lower rail 10 at the foot so hat the brackets 11 may be removably connected with the bed by having the arms placed upon-opposite sides of the rail 10 and the adjusting bolt 12 then tightened so that the bracket will be securely clamped to the rail. This bolt 12' passes through openings 13" formed in the bracket and has a nut 14; screwed upon its inner end to tighten the bracket about the ra-il, as above described. Openings I5 and i 16 are formed in the arms of the bracket, the opening being formed in the forward arm and positioned nearer the bolt 12 than the opening 16, as will be clearly seen from an inspection of Fig; 5. A tongue 17 extends from the upper edge of the opening 16 into" the space betweenthe arms of the bracket and is intended .to' fit into a slot formed in the sliding arm which will be hereinafter described. When it is desired to remove this device from the bed, the nut 14 may be removed and the bolt 12 can then be withdrawn thuspermitting thebracket to fbe disconnected from the bed without it be ing necessary to remove the bracket from the sliding arm. These sliding arms 18 have their outer ends connected by a cross rod 19 Ewln'cli is connected with the upper ends of the arms 18 and the inner end portions of the sliding arms are curved and connected by a cross rod 20 which also extends through and beyond the sliding arms; The curved portions of these sliding armsare provided with upper and lower slots 21 and 22 whichare so located that when the arms are drawn outwardly to the positiomshown in Fig. 1,- the tongue 17 will fit into the sloping'sl'ot 21',

and the forward arm of the bracket will fit Cir into the slot 20. The arms will then beheld in a raised position and since the tongue 17 extends diagonally into the diagonal slot 21, there will be less danger of the arms slipping loose when the weight is placed upon the outer ends of the arms. When this device is not in use it is easily moved to the position shown in Fig. 2 with the lower end portions of the sliding arms resting upon the floor underneath the bed. When it is desired to remove the bed coverings at night, or to air the bed coveringsin the morning, the cross rod 19 is grasped between the arms 18 and the arms are drawn outwardly and upwardly to the position shown in-Fig. 1. The bed coverings can be then thrown over 7 the foot of the bed and will be supported by the device thus permitting them to be thoroughly aired, but prevented from falling upon the floor.

In Figs. 6, 7 and 8, there has been shown a slightly modified form of sliding arm. The arms 23 in this form are provided with the curved lower end portions the same as in the form shown in Fig. 3 and are provided with the cut-out portions 24 and 25. A collar 26 is placed upon the'ends of each of the sliding arms and is held in place by any suitable means, such for instance, as the pm 27. It is, of course, obvious that any other desired means may be used for securing the collar in place or that, if desired,

What is claimed .as new, 1s:

v1. A device of the character described comprising a frame, and means for slidably connecting said frame with a bed whereby the frame may be slid beneath thebed and drawn out and supported in a substantially vertical position.

2. In a device of the character described a .frame having sliding bars, and means carried by said sliding bars for slidably con-- necting said frame with a bed whereby the frame may be positioned beneath the bed and drawn out and held in a raised position. V

In a device of the character described a frame having side bars provided with curved lower end portions, and means mounted upon the side arms for slidably connecting said device with a bed and adaptedto engage the-curved lower end portions of the side arms for holding said device in an extended position.
