To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, VVARiiI-IUM P. Case STOUT and HERBERT H. )Anonnss, citizens of the United States, ,tesiding at Kinsley,in the county of Edwards and State of Kansas, have invented certainmew and useful Im-' provements in Burners, of which the following is a specification. a a
This invention relates to burners and more especially to devices of that class whereby vapor is generated from oil and mixed with air to form a combustible gas which in burning produces an intense heat,
our primary object beingto produce a simple and eflicient burner whereby consumption of the gas is attained without producing visible smoke or soot.
With this general object in view the 'invention consists in certain novel and peculiar features of construction and combination of parts as hereinafter described. and claimed and in order that it may be fully understood reference is to be had to the accompanying-drawing, in which Figure 1,is aplan viewot a burner embodying our invention. A generator rests upon plate 1 and de pends through the opening thereof and consists of a saucer-shaped base '8 provided centrally with an upstandingcone 9, the saucer having a chamber 10, communicating with the interior of the coue and alsohavingan opening 11 wherein is screwed or otherwise secured an oil supply pipe c12- The upper -wardly,:and the upper extremity of the cone is provided with a series of radial notches 13 constituting gas jet orifices. A device for cooperating with the generator in vaporizing thejoil supplied thereto and for use in spreading the, gas radially as it passes through said orifices, consists of a cylindrical body 14, a tapered lower end 15, a conical head 16, and a plurality of outwardly projecting spacing lugs 17.
