PISTOL-BULLET.
To all whom t may concern: Be it. l'rnown that L'PAUL MAUSER, lprivy commercial councilor, a subject of the King 'of llvurttemberg, residing at Oberndorf, in
the Kingdom of lVurttemberg, Germany, have invented certain new and usefnllniprovements in Pistol-Bullets, of whichthe following is a full, clear, and exact description.
It has latterly been recognized that it i-s not. really necessary that effective action should be had at long ranges'with pistols and the like, and that the most advantageous ammunition is that which exerts its action most intensively 4at sho-rt ranges, such as occur when fighting at close quarters.
The presentv invention relates to a pistol bullet which is specially designed for attaining-the maximum velocity or maximum eiiect at relatively short ranges, Say about 100 meters from the muzzle of the Weapon, the formation of thisbullet being such that Within this distance an exceedingly 'lat trajectory, that is to say a point bla-nk shot, is obtained.

In order to increase the penetrative power the envelop of the bullet can be reinforced at the point, for example by a lead insertion (l as shown in the drawing.
By means of the construct-ion and form described above the bulletmeets all the requirements, as regards obtaining the highest efliciency from the weapon'when ight' ing at close quarters, which at the present timeare made of such firearms, in technical military circles.
Tit-h this bullet, which is light relatively to its diameter, (fa bullet of a caliber of 11.0 mm. weighs 14 grams with an insertion of antimony lead for example, while a similar bullet with" an aluminium insertion weighs only 5.4' grams) a high initialvelocity and con -sequently a flat trajectory can be obtained. -As a result a considerably higher percentage of hits can be secured with pistols within their tiring range, while owing to the light- -ness of the bullet the recoil is greatly reduced.
What claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A bullet for pistols comprising a metallic casing and 'a corey of light metal and hav ing a central cylindricalguide portion of al diameter ot' about yhalf-the length of the bullet' and vconical end portions and a reinforcement at the front end of thejbullet.
