, venters and similar devices now in use.
The chief object of the'present invention is to provide such a device which will not rust oncorrodeand which will be sanitary and aseptic in use, and while filtering par- "ticles of dirt by preventing them from passing from the tap by intercepting them in a filter device, covers the mouth of the tap to form'a resilient cover acting as a buffer for crockery as aforesaid.
The invention is also designed with a view to making it adaptable to one or more sizes of taps generally in use, to obviate the use of screw methods of attachment, and to prevent the fitment from blowing ofi' the tap when in use.
The invention is rendered clear by the accompanying sheet of drawing illustrating a practical form of carrying out the said invention (in vertical section), and by a perusal of the following description.
According to this invention use is made of an outer shell or tubular member a of.
molded rubber or other resilient material or combination of materials, which is finished in such a manner that it leaves a projecting flange or lip b on the interior which grips the nozzle of the tap when fitted and which prevents the fitment from being forced off the tap by the water pressure act- Specification of Letters Patent.

ing underneath such lip. In the interior of the fitting. a there is formed a groove 0 into which is fitted a filtering member J,"
ing degrees of hardness so long as the lower part is of a suitable soft composition to protect crockery ware from breaking when coming in contact with. it.
The filter is preferablya disk ordisks of fine wire gauze bound by, a stamped metal ring f of flat channel section, which prevents the filter cutting into the material of the fitting. Above the lip I) hereinbefo-re described may be a hollow or annular concavity g to insure a tight and close fit, preventing foreign matter entering the fitting.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is An anti-splash fitting for faucets, comprising a resilient body portion having a central passageway, the upper end of said passageway being formed with concave side walls andoadapted to fit over and engage the exhaust end of a faucet, said body also provided with a groove, a shoulder formed adjacent said groove, a wire gauze seated within said groove and resting on the said shoulder, and an annular flange integral with the body portion and projecting downwardly therefrom into the said passageway, said annular flange adapted to be forced into gripping relation with the faucet by pressure of Water passing therefrom.
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature in presence of two wltnesses.
