Abstract

A method for the verification of instruments for measurement of natural gas flow rate relates to metrology. According to the method, natural gas is passed through a standard gage and instrument for measurement of flow rate of natural gas, such as a counter or flow meter, with following comparison of readings on the instruments for measuring flow rate of natural gas and standard gage, with determination of the value of deviation of readings of those. For the verification one uses natural gas from main pipeline gas pressure in which is 36…46 bar. At inlet one performs control of input gas pressure within pressure of natural gas in main pipeline to value of double pressure of natural gas in gas pipeline of the gas supply system to which natural gas goes. Gas from inlet is in sequence supplied to counter or flow meter and standard gage that is a block of connected in parallel nozzles of critical flow, and one supplies fixed amount of gas at given pressure. Ratio of gas pressure after the block of connected in parallel nozzles of critical flow to pressure of gas before that block is kept not higher than the value 0.5. One takes readings from the counter or flow meter before and after gas passage through the block of connected in parallel critical flow nozzles, with comparison of those characteristics and with making conclusion on suitability of the meter or flow meter for following use. At the inlet gas pressure is controlled in such a way that it comes to gas duct of the gas supply system with stable pressure of 3 or 6, or 12 bar. The method provides increase of accuracy and reliability of verification.
