Abstract

The invention relates to ferrous metallurgy and can be used for production of charge billet for iron foundry and steel-casting industries. A method consists in cooling pig iron by means of forced cooling pig billets to the temperature of 820-900 °C in moulds on a casting machine, unloading and placement of pig iron for additional cooling thereof. Additional forced cooling is done to 150-200 °C by passing gas through a mass of ingots. Technical result: improving the quality of the surface of pig iron, reduction of energy and material costs.
