The invention relates to by-product coking industry, in particular to the processes for preparation of electrode pitch. The process for preparation of electrode pitch comprises heat treatment of the medium temperature pitch with introducing into it the intensifying additive. According to the invention, the sulfate of ammonia is used as a intensifying additive in the amount of 1-3 mass percents, which is dosed supplied to the delivery line of medium temperature pitch in a form of the mechanical hover – the sludge- or in the form of crystals in front of the entrance into the cube-reactor. The invention provides an increasing the quality of the electrode pitch.
