Для получения газа для синтеза аммиака способ включает подготовку стадии конверсии метана путем разогрева слоя катализатора продувкой нагретым газом, двухступенчатую конверсию метана и двухступенчатую конверсию окиси углерода, причем для разогрева катализатора используют отходящий продувочный газ производства метанола, содержащий не менее 40 об.% водорода с температурой 200-250°С, который первоначально подают на первую стадию конверсии окиси углерода, затем на стадию разогрева катализатора, после чего его возвращают на стадию конверсии метана.
