Abstract

A cutter includes a main body, a cutting element (e.g., a replaceable rotary blade), and a protective element. The main body has a grip portion. The cutting element is connected to one end of the main body. The protective element is movably mounted on one end of the main body to accommodate the cutting element. A stop portion may be provided opposite or adjacent to the grip portion, allowing the user's fingers to rest against it, improving grip and facilitating the user's application of force. This invention, through a special angled design, not only provides excellent cutting ability but also prevents the blade from cutting the user or injuring other objects through the protective element.

Description

Cutter

This work concerns a cutter, particularly a practical, easy-to-grip, and safe cutter.

Common cutters, such as utility knives or pen knives, often have excessively sharp blades for ease of use. This can pose a risk of finger cuts due to accidental or improper use. Furthermore, prolonged use can easily cause muscle pain and discomfort in the fingers due to excessive force. Additionally, there is a need to consider improving the grip to allow users to apply force more easily and reduce the likelihood of inaccurate cuts. Therefore, given these shortcomings, refining existing cutters is an important area for the industry to address and improve.

To address the aforementioned problems, this invention provides a cutter comprising: a main body, a cutting element (e.g., a rotary cutter), and a protective element. The main body has a gripping portion. The cutting element is connected to one end of the main body. The protective element is movably mounted on one end of the main body to accommodate the cutting element. The protective element ensures that, when the cutter is not in use, the cutting element (blade) will not cut the user or injure foreign objects, or prevent damage to the cutting element (blade).

In one embodiment, a stop portion may be provided opposite to (or adjacent to) the grip portion. The stop portion has at least one inclined surface, a convex surface, a concave surface, or a combination thereof. The stop portion may be made of metal, plastic, wood, silicone, elastic foam, or resin. The stop portion allows the user's fingers to rest against it, facilitating grip and application of force, thereby improving the feel of the cut and reducing the risk of miscutting and preventing the user's fingers from slipping and hitting the cutting surface.

In one embodiment, a perforation may be formed at the other end of the main body, serving as, for example, a rope hole or a quick-release rope hole, to secure the protective component and prevent it from falling or being lost.

Please refer to Figure 1. This embodiment discloses a cutter 10, which includes: a main body 11, a cutting element 12, and a protective element (not shown in the figure; please refer to the protective element 13 in Figures 2 and 3). The main body 11 may have a gripping portion 111. The cutting element 12 is connected to one end of the main body 11 in a pivotal manner. The protective element is movably mounted on one end of the main body 11 to receive or store the cutting element 12. This ensures that when the cutter 10 is not in use, the cutting element 12 will not cut the user or injure foreign objects, or prevent the cutting element 12 from being damaged due to exposure, significantly improving the safety of using the cutter 10.

Continuing from the above, please refer to Figure 1. The cutting element 12 in this embodiment can employ a rotary cutter. The rotary cutter design avoids the drawback of traditional cutters that only provide a single cutting direction, allowing for smoother cutting when using this device. Furthermore, it makes it easier to coordinate with the rotation of the cutting element 12 when the cutting direction changes.

The rotary blade of the cutting component 12 in this embodiment may have an annular cutting edge, which is composed of two symmetrical conical surfaces. In the axial cross-section of the rotary blade, an angle is formed between the two conical surfaces. This angle can be between 45~51 degrees, 45~59 degrees, 45~60 degrees, 51~53 degrees, 51~59 degrees, or 60~84 degrees. Through the special angle design of the cutting component 12, the cutter 10 of this invention possesses excellent cutting ability, effectively cutting an object (not shown in the figure, such as paper) cleanly, and the angle is also less likely to cut the user or injure external objects.

Continuing from the above, please refer to Figure 1. The cutting element 12 in this embodiment can be a fixed or replaceable type. If the cutting element 12 is replaceable, the user can easily replace it when it wears out, extending the service life of the cutter 10. Furthermore, the cutting element 12 can be made of stainless steel, high-carbon steel, alloy, or diamond, thereby allowing for the selection of different materials to match the required cutting material hardness.

Continuing from the above, please refer to Figure 1. At the other end of the main body 11 of this embodiment, a through hole 112 can be formed, which can be used as, for example, a rope hole or a quick-release rope hole, to secure the protective component to prevent it from falling or being lost.

Continuing from the above, please refer to Figure 1. The surface of the main body 11 in this embodiment can be formed by one or more shaped curved surfaces 113, for example, by protrusion or recess.

In another embodiment of this invention, the main difference from the embodiment shown in Figure 1 is that the main body 11 may have a stop 114 near (or opposite) the grip 111. The stop 114 may have at least one or more of a slope, a convex surface, and a concave surface, or a combination thereof. Through different stop portions... The different curved designs of the 114 allow users to easily adjust the grip for both left and right hands, thereby adjusting the force applied. The stop 114 can be made of metal, plastic, wood, silicone, elastic foam, or resin. The use of different materials enhances user comfort when holding the artwork. Furthermore, the stop 114 is movably mounted on the main body 11.

Continuing from the above, please refer to Figures 2 and 3. The main body 11 of this embodiment can also be made of metal, plastic, wood, silicone, elastic foam, or resin; however, this is merely an example and not a limitation.

In this embodiment, the other end of the main body 11 can also have a through hole 112, which can be used as, for example, a rope hole or a quick-release rope hole, to secure the protective member 13 to prevent it from falling or being lost.

The surface of the main body 11 in this embodiment can also be formed by protrusion or recess, for example, to create one or more shaped curved surfaces 113. The shaped curved surfaces 113 in this embodiment are shown in an appearance different from that in Figure 1. This appearance is merely illustrative and not limiting.

In another embodiment of this invention, the main difference compared to the embodiments shown in Figures 2 and 3 is that, when the stop 114 is movably disposed (on the main body 11), and when the stop 114 is made of an elastic material (e.g., silicone), each end of the stop 114 may have at least one positioning post 1141, and the main body 11 may form a limiting part 1141' relative to the positioning post 1141 of the stop 114, such as the two recesses illustrated in the figure. In practice, the user can stretch the stop 114 to deform it, using its elasticity to engage the two positioning pins 1141 illustrated in the figure with the two grooves illustrated in the figure. This allows the stop 114 to be relatively fixed by its positioning pins 1141 and the limiting part 1141', thereby fixing the relative position of the main body 11 and the stop 114. Furthermore, the stop 114 in this embodiment is shown with an appearance different from that in Figures 2 and 3. This appearance is merely illustrative and not limited to this.

Following on from the above, please refer to Figure 4. The main body 11 of this embodiment can also be made of metal, plastic, wood, silicone, elastic foam, or resin, but this is merely an example and not a limitation.

Continuing from the above, please refer to Figure 4. At the other end of the main body 11 of this embodiment, a through hole 112 can be formed. This hole can be used, for example, as a rope hole or a quick-release rope hole, to secure a protective component (not shown in the figure; please refer to the protective component 13 in Figures 2 and 3) to prevent it from falling or being lost.

The surface of the main body 11 in this embodiment can also be formed with one or more shaped curved surfaces, for example, by means of protrusion or concavity (however, not shown in the figure; please refer to the shaped curved surface 113 in Figures 1 to 3).

Claims (10)

A cutter includes: a main body, a cutting element, and a protective element, wherein the main body has a gripping portion, the cutting element is connected to one end of the main body, and the protective element is movably disposed at one end of the main body to receive the cutting element. The cutter as described in claim 1, wherein the main body has a stop portion located near the grip portion. The cutter as described in claim 2, wherein the stop portion has at least one or a combination of a bevel, a convex surface, and a concave surface. The cutter as described in claim 1, wherein the cutting element is a rotary cutter having an annular cutting edge composed of two conical surfaces, and an angle is formed between the two conical surfaces in an axial cross-section of the rotary cutter, the angle being 45-51 degrees, 45-59 degrees, 45-60 degrees, 51-53 degrees, or 51-59 degrees. The cutter as described in claim 1, wherein the body is made of metal, plastic, wood, silicone, elastic foam, or resin. The cutter as described in claim 2 or claim 3, wherein the stop is made of metal, plastic, wood, silicone, elastic foam, or resin. The cutter as described in claim 2 or claim 3, wherein each end of the stop portion has a positioning post, and the main body has a limiting portion formed relative to the positioning post of the stop portion, so that the stop portion is relatively fixed to the limiting portion of the main body by means of the positioning post. The cutter as described in claim 1, wherein a perforation is formed at the other end of the main body. The cutter as described in claim 1, wherein the surface of the body forms one or more shaped arcuate surfaces. The cutter as described in claim 7, wherein the stop is movably mounted on the main body.
