太陽能為人類可運用之永久性資源,而太陽能發電係將太陽能中之光能或熱能轉換為電能後貯存以供使用,其發電過程不會產生對環境有害的物質,且能源能不斷再生,是以,架設太陽能板已成為新興之環保替代能源。由於太陽能板必需架設於周圍無高樓、樹林或其它遮蔽物之空曠處,而頂樓或屋頂為極少被拿來使用的空間,且光線照射充足,因此,為架設太陽能板之最佳場地,然而,一般屋頂為加強隔熱效果大多設置有具斜面之浪板,因此施工不易,且會增加架設太陽能板之固定架的安裝難度。目前太陽能發電設備一般具複數太陽能板呈共面排列,太陽能板大都為四方形體或長方形體,每一太陽能板側邊位置具有接合邊框,該邊框可提供與支架組合以組設於地面或建築物上,太陽能板在拼接架設時,太陽能板係以縱向及橫向形成方陣排列,當兩相鄰的太陽能板間形成一間隔,再利用固定件從間隙穿過將太陽能板固定在支架上,並利用支架作為排水結構避免水分低落到下方,而目前市面上的排水支架大都為U型體。Solar energy is a permanent resource available to humankind.
