Abstract

The present disclosure is directed to providing a low viscosity cosmetic composition including a solid oily component, a thickening agent, and a polyol, wherein the solid oily component is included in an amount of 1% to 10% by weight based on the total weight of the composition, the solid oily component is a mixture of two or more types of components, and the viscosity of the composition is 10,000 cps or less. Specifically, the low viscosity cosmetic composition according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may stabilize an oily component in a solid state at room temperature with a transparent or translucent low viscosity solubilization formulation. In addition, the low viscosity cosmetic composition according to one embodiment of the present disclosure is excellent in the transparency and temporal stability of the formulation, and is capable of implementing a fresh feeling of use by virtue of a low viscosity solubilization formulation while exhibiting excellent skin moisturizing power by oily components.

Description

Low-viscosity cosmetic components with stable solid oily components

This invention relates to a low-viscosity cosmetic composition consisting of a stable solid oily component.

[Reference to Related Applications] This specification claims the rights of Korean Patent Application No. 10-2019-0000201 (filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Office on January 2, 2019), and its disclosure is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.

Basic cosmetics are categorized into various formulations such as skins, essences, lotions, and creams. It is well known that the higher the content of oily components, such as oils, the better the skin's moisturizing effect. Toners are transparent or semi-transparent solubilizing agents mainly composed of water-soluble components and stabilized with little or no oil. Their advantages lie in their light and refreshing feel, but their disadvantages are that their moisturizing ability is not as high as that of emulsions, and their feel is not as smooth.

Therefore, in such solubilizing agents, it is important to increase skin hydration and achieve a differentiated user experience while maintaining a light and refreshing spreadability by including a large amount of oily components. However, in order to stabilize the large amount of oily components in solubilized cosmetic compositions prepared with such transparent or semi-transparent agents, a large amount of surfactants or thickeners should be used for solubilization. Excessive use of such surfactants or thickeners may result in a sticky or heavy feel or cause skin irritation. [Technical Problem] The present invention provides a low-viscosity cosmetic composition that can stabilize a large amount of oily components that exist in a solid state at room temperature in a transparent or semi-transparent low-viscosity solubilizing agent. This is different from formulations containing a large amount of conventional liquid oily components. It has excellent skin moisturizing effect through the oily components, while exhibiting the lightness and freshness of using a solubilizing agent.

[Problem Solving] A specific embodiment of the present invention aims to provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition containing a solid oily component, a thickener and a polyol, wherein the solid oily component accounts for 1 to 10% by weight of the total weight of the composition, the solid oily component is a mixture of two or more types of components, and the viscosity of the composition is below 10,000 cps.

[Beneficial Effects of the Invention] A specific embodiment of the invention provides a low-viscosity cosmetic composition that can stabilize an oily component that is solid at room temperature into a transparent or semi-transparent low-viscosity solubilizer.

Furthermore, the low-viscosity cosmetic composition of a specific embodiment of the present invention has excellent formulation transparency and time stability, and can achieve a refreshing feel through low-viscosity solubilizing formulation while exhibiting excellent skin moisturizing power through oily components.

The invention will be described in detail below.

The term "hydrophile-lipophile balance (HLB)" used in this article refers to the hydrophilic-to-hydrophobic ratio of a general surfactant, meaning the relative value of hydrophilicity to hydrophobicity applicable to various materials that can be stably dispersed. This HLB value can be expressed as a number from 0 to 20. Lower values indicate hydrophobic properties, while higher values indicate hydrophilic properties.

The "solubilization formulation" used in this article is a transparent or translucent oil-in-water formulation in which the oily component is stabilized in a large amount of water. It differs from an "emulsion formulation" with a milky-white appearance in that this solubilization formulation is transparent or translucent. Furthermore, "translucent formulation" means that light is scattered by the stable, small-particle oily component, resulting in a white or slightly bluish hue.

One aspect of this invention aims to provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition comprising a solid oily component, a thickener, and a polyol, wherein the solid oily component comprises 1 to 10% by weight of the total weight of the composition, the solid oily component is a mixture of two or more types of components, and the viscosity of the composition is below 10,000 cps.

In a specific embodiment, the content of the solid oily component may be at least 1% by weight, at least 2% by weight, at least 2.5% by weight, at least 2.7% by weight, at least 3% by weight, at least 3.3% by weight, at least 3.5% by weight, at least 4% by weight, at least 4.5% by weight, at least 5% by weight, at least 5.5% by weight, at least 5.7% by weight, at least 6% by weight, at least 6.2% by weight, at least 6.5% by weight, at least 7% by weight, at least 8% by weight, or at least 9% by weight of the total weight of the component. In addition, the content of the solid oily component may be less than 10% by weight, less than 9% by weight, less than 8% by weight, less than 7% by weight, less than 6.5% by weight, less than 6.2% by weight, less than 6% by weight, less than 5.7% by weight, less than 5.5% by weight, less than 5% by weight, less than 4.5% by weight, less than 4% by weight, less than 3.5% by weight, less than 3.3% by weight, less than 3% by weight, less than 2.7% by weight, less than 2.5% by weight, or less than 2% by weight of the total weight of the component.

In one specific embodiment, the solid oily component is an oily component that is solid at room temperature, and its HLB (hydrophilic-lipophilic balance) value can be between 8 and 13. In another specific embodiment, the HLB value of the solid oily component may be 8 or higher, 9 or higher, 10 or higher, 11 or higher, or 12 or higher, and may be below 13, below 12, below 11, below 10, or below 9. Preferably, the HLB value of the solid oily component may be between 10 and 11.

In one specific embodiment, the solid oily component may be selected from two or more of the following: lecithin; C16-18 alcohol; and C16-18 fatty acids, their salts, or derivatives thereof. In this case, the derivative may be a derivative synthesized from the C16-18 fatty acid and at least one or more of polyethylene glycol, glycerol, sugar, and phosphate groups.

In one specific embodiment, the C16-18 fatty acid, its salt, or its derivative may be selected from one or more of the following: polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate, cetearyl olivate/sorbitan olivate, and glyceryl stearate citrate.

In another specific embodiment, the solid oily component may comprise at least one of the following: lecithin, polyglyceryl-3-methylglucose distearate, cetearyl olivate/sorbitan olivate, and glyceryl stearate citrate. In another specific embodiment, the lecithin may be hydrogenated lecithin.

In another specific embodiment, the content of each of the two or more solid oily components may be less than 5% by weight of the total weight of the composition. For example, the content of each of the two or more solid oily components may be less than 5% by weight, less than 4% by weight, less than 3% by weight, or less than 2% by weight, and the content may be at least 1% by weight, at least 2% by weight, at least 3% by weight, or at least 4% by weight of the total weight of the composition. That is, two or more solid oily components, each with a content of less than 5% by weight, may be mixed such that the content of the solid oily component is less than 10% by weight of the total weight of the composition.

In a specific embodiment, the thickener may be selected from one or more of the following: xanthan gum, cellulose gum, hydroxyethylcellulose, ceratonia siliqua gum, carbomer, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer, and hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate copolymer.

In one specific embodiment, to achieve the desired effect, the thickener content may be 0.01 to 1% of the total weight of the composition. In another specific embodiment, the thickener content may be at least 0.01% by weight, at least 0.03% by weight, at least 0.05% by weight, at least 0.07% by weight, at least 0.09% by weight, at least 0.1% by weight, at least 0.15% by weight, at least 0.2% by weight, at least 0.25% by weight, at least 0.3% by weight, at least 0.35% by weight, at least 0.4% by weight, at least 0.45% by weight, at least 0.5% by weight, at least 0.6% by weight, at least 0.7% by weight, at least 0.8% by weight, or at least 0.9% by weight of the total weight of the composition. In addition, the content of the thickener may be less than 1% by weight, less than 0.9% by weight, less than 0.8% by weight, less than 0.7% by weight, less than 0.6% by weight, less than 0.5% by weight, less than 0.45% by weight, less than 0.4% by weight, less than 0.35% by weight, less than 0.3% by weight, less than 0.25% by weight, less than 0.2% by weight, less than 0.15% by weight, less than 0.1% by weight, less than 0.09% by weight, less than 0.07% by weight, less than 0.05% by weight, or less than 0.03% by weight of the total weight of the composition.

In a specific embodiment, the polyol may be selected from one or more of the following: 1,3-butylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, propylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, glycerin, diglycerin, methylpropanediol, ethylhexanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, and pentylene glycol.

In one specific embodiment, to achieve the desired effect, the polyol content may be 1 to 30% by weight of the total weight of the composition. As another specific embodiment, the polyol content may be at least 1% by weight, at least 5% by weight, at least 7% by weight, at least 10% by weight, at least 12% by weight, at least 15% by weight, at least 18% by weight, at least 20% by weight, at least 25% by weight, or at least 27% by weight of the total weight of the composition. Furthermore, the polyol content may be less than 30% by weight, less than 27% by weight, less than 25% by weight, less than 20% by weight, less than 18% by weight, less than 15% by weight, less than 12% by weight, less than 10% by weight, less than 7% by weight, or less than 5% by weight of the total weight of the composition. Preferably, the polyol content may be 5 to 30% by weight of the total weight of the composition.

In one specific embodiment, the composition may have a viscosity of less than 10,000 cps. Specifically, the viscosity of the composition may be less than 10,000 cps, less than 9,000 cps, less than 8,000 cps, less than 7,000 cps, less than 6,900 cps, less than 6,700 cps, less than 6,500 cps, less than 6,300 cps, less than 6,000 cps, less than 5,600 cps, less than 5,300 cps, less than 5,000 cps, less than 4,500 cps, less than 4,000 cps, or less than 3,500 cps. Furthermore, the viscosity of the composition may be 20 cps or higher, 100 cps or higher, 500 cps or higher, 1,000 cps or higher, 2,000 cps or higher, 3,000 cps or higher, 3,500 cps or higher, 4,000 cps or higher, or 4,500 cps or higher. Preferably, the composition may have a viscosity of less than 5,000 cps.

In one specific embodiment, the thickener content may be 1 to 10 parts by weight relative to 100 parts by weight of the solid oily component, while the polyol content may be 200 to 600 parts by weight. In another specific embodiment, the thickener content may be at least 1 part by weight, at least 2 parts by weight, at least 3 parts by weight, at least 4 parts by weight, at least 5 parts by weight, at least 6 parts by weight, at least 7 parts by weight, at least 8 parts by weight, or at least 9 parts by weight relative to 10 parts by weight. Furthermore, the thickener content may be less than 10 parts by weight, less than 9 parts by weight, less than 8 parts by weight, less than 7 parts by weight, less than 6 parts by weight, less than 5 parts by weight, less than 4 parts by weight, less than 3 parts by weight, or less than 2 parts by weight.

Furthermore, the polyol content relative to 100 parts by weight of the solid oily component may be at least 200 parts by weight, at least 250 parts by weight, at least 300 parts by weight, at least 350 parts by weight, at least 400 parts by weight, at least 450 parts by weight, at least 500 parts by weight, or at least 550 parts by weight. Alternatively, the polyol content may be less than 600 parts by weight, less than 550 parts by weight, less than 500 parts by weight, less than 450 parts by weight, less than 400 parts by weight, less than 350 parts by weight, less than 300 parts by weight, or less than 250 parts by weight.

As another specific embodiment, the composition may further include 0.0001 to 5% by weight of a liquid oily component of the total weight of the composition. Furthermore, as another specific embodiment, the content of the liquid oily component may be at least 0.0001% by weight, at least 0.001% by weight, at least 0.01% by weight, at least 0.1% by weight, at least 0.5% by weight, at least 1% by weight, at least 1.5% by weight, at least 2% by weight, at least 2.5% by weight, at least 3% by weight, at least 3.5% by weight, at least 4% by weight, or at least 4.5% by weight of the total weight of the composition. In addition, the content of the oily component in the liquid may be less than 5% by weight, less than 4.5% by weight, less than 4% by weight, less than 3.5% by weight, less than 3% by weight, less than 2.5% by weight, less than 2% by weight, less than 1.5% by weight, less than 1% by weight, less than 0.5% by weight, less than 0.1% by weight, less than 0.01% by weight, or less than 0.001% by weight.

In one specific embodiment, the cosmetic composition may be a composition used for skin moisturizing.

In another embodiment, the invention may relate to a skin moisturizing method comprising applying an effective amount of a low-viscosity cosmetic composition to a desired individual, the composition comprising a solid oily component, a thickener, and a polyol.

In another embodiment, the invention may relate to the combined use of a solid oily component, a thickener, and a polyol for the preparation of a skin moisturizing composition.

In another embodiment, the invention may relate to the use of a combination of a solid oily component, a thickener, and a polyol for skin moisturizing.

In another embodiment, the invention may relate to the combined use of a solid oily component, a thickener, and a polyol for skin moisturizing.

The cosmetic composition of this invention can be mixed with components contained in general cosmetic compositions as needed. Examples of additional mixed components include: moisturizers, organic and inorganic pigments, ultraviolet absorbers, preservatives, fungicides, antioxidants, blocking agents, plant extracts, pH adjusters, pigments, flavoring agents, coolants, and purified water.

The present invention will be further described in detail below with reference to embodiments and experimental embodiments. These embodiments and experimental embodiments are used to understand the disclosure of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention to these embodiments and experimental embodiments. Modifications, substitutions, and insertions commonly found in the art field to which the present invention pertains are possible and are also within the scope of the present invention.

[Implementation Examples and Comparative Implementation Examples]

Low-viscosity cosmetic compositions having the components described in Table 1 below and comparative embodiments 1 to 3 are prepared. Specifically, the raw materials in Table 1 below are stirred at 80°C for 10 minutes using a homomixer, then cooled to 30°C and degassed to prepare a low-viscosity cosmetic composition with an essential formulation.

[Test Example 1] Viscosity Change Evaluation

The viscosity of Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples 1 to 3 was evaluated to determine whether it changed over time. Specifically, the viscosity of each component was measured for 2 minutes every other week using a Brookfield viscometer (Brookfield LVDV-II+PRO) for 4 weeks, with rotor #3 and speed set to 12 rpm. The results are shown in Table 2 below.

As shown in Table 2 above, Examples 1 to 3 of the present invention, which contain mixtures of two types of solid oily components, can maintain their low viscosity for a long time. However, Comparative Example 1 of the present invention, which contains 5% by weight of a single type of solid oily component, has a viscosity of over 10,000 cps, and in particular, the viscosity was found to increase to over 15,000 cps after 4 weeks, thus confirming that this composition cannot achieve a low-viscosity formulation. In addition, the formulations of Comparative Examples 2 and 3 separated immediately after preparation, making it impossible to measure their viscosity.

That is, when only a single type of solid oily component of the present invention is present, it is found that the viscosity is too high, causing the preparation to separate immediately, or the viscosity gradually increases over time. However, when two or more types are mixed, it is found that the viscosity can be maintained indefinitely.

[Test Implementation Example 2] Long-term stability assessment

Long-term stability was evaluated for Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples 1 to 3. Long-term stability was assessed through a temperature stability test, a common storage test. Specifically, the cosmetic was placed in a constant temperature environment (room temperature, 45°C, 4°C, -15°C, cycle) and the change in state over time was measured for 4 weeks. Physically, any changes such as separation, precipitation, aggregation, solidification, and softening were determined. Chemically, any changes such as discoloration, fading, off-odor, and crystallization were determined. The results are shown in Table 3 and Figure 1 below.

As shown in Table 3 and Figure 1, the opaque appearance of Examples 1 to 3, which contain mixtures of two or more solid oily components within a specific content range, remained stable without change. In Comparative Examples 2 and 3, which contain oily components of shea butter or jojoba ester, it was confirmed that the oily components precipitated as white sediment after preparation and immediately separated. In Comparative Example 1, long-term stability was not a problem, but the test results of Example 1 confirmed that its viscosity was too high, thus confirming that the composition could not achieve a low-viscosity formulation.

[Test Implementation Example 3] User Experience Evaluation

Based on the user experience of Example 1 of a specific embodiment of the present invention, the o/w (oil-in-water) cosmetic composition formulations of the components in Table 4 (comparative Example 4) and the w/x (water-in-silicone) cosmetic composition formulations of the components in Table 5 were evaluated. Specifically, nine women aged 30 to 40 conducted a sensory evaluation of the spreadability and moisturizing feel after using the cosmetic composition of Example 1. In the evaluation of spreadability and moisturizing satisfaction, a scale of 1 to 19 was used to give higher scores for lighter or fresher application and better moisturizing properties. The results are shown in Table 6 below.

As can be seen from the results in Table 6 above, in comparative examples 4 and 5, which correspond to commonly used general emulsion preparations, the spreadability and moisturizing feel are not as good as in example 1 because a large amount of oily liquid components are dispersed.

According to Embodiment 1 of the present invention, by dispersing a solid oily component in an oil-free, low-viscosity solubilizer, it was confirmed that the dispersion of the component produced a light or refreshing feeling, while also exhibiting excellent moisturizing properties.

The present invention provides the following specific embodiments as examples.

A first specific embodiment provides a low-viscosity cosmetic composition comprising a solid oily component, a thickener, and a polyol, wherein the solid oily component is present in an amount of 1 to 10% by weight of the total weight of the composition, the solid oily component is a mixture of two or more types of components, and the viscosity of the composition is below 10,000 cps.

According to the first specific embodiment, the second specific embodiment can provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition, wherein the solid oily component has an HLB (hydrophilic-lipophilic balance) value of 8 to 13.

According to any one or more of the first to second specific embodiments, the third specific embodiment can provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition, wherein the solid oily component is selected from two or more of the following: lecithin; C16-18 alcohol; and C16-18 fatty acid, its salt or derivative thereof.

According to any one or more of the first to third specific embodiments, the fourth specific embodiment can provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition, wherein the derivative is a derivative synthesized from at least one of a C16-18 fatty acid, a sugar, and an alcohol.

According to any one or more of the first to fourth specific embodiments, the fifth specific embodiment can provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition, wherein the C16-18 fatty acid, its salt or derivative thereof is selected from one or more of the following: polyglycerol-3-methylglucose distearate, cetearyl stearate/dehydrated sorbitol oleate, and glyceryl stearate citrate.

According to any one or more of the first to fifth embodiments, the sixth embodiment can provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition, wherein the solid oily component comprises at least one selected from: lecithin, polyglycerol-3-methylglucose distearate, cetearyl stearate/dehydrated sorbitol oleate, and glyceryl stearate citrate.

According to any one or more of the first to sixth specific embodiments, the seventh specific embodiment can provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition, wherein the content of each of the two or more solid oily components is less than 5% by weight of the total weight of the composition.

According to any one or more of the first to seventh specific embodiments, the eighth specific embodiment can provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition, wherein the thickener is selected from one or more of the following: xanthan gum, cellulose gum, hydroxyethylcellulose, Ceratonia siliqua gum, carbomer, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer, and hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate copolymer.

According to any one or more of the first to eighth embodiments, the ninth embodiment can provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition, wherein the content of the thickener is 0.01 to 1% by weight of the total weight of the composition.

According to any one or more of the first to ninth embodiments, the tenth embodiment can provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition, wherein the polyol may be selected from one or more of the following: 1,3-butylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, propylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, glycerin, diglycerin, methylpropanediol, ethylhexanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, and pentylene glycol.

According to any one or more of the first to tenth specific embodiments, the eleventh specific embodiment can provide a low-viscosity cosmetic composition, wherein the content of the polyol is 1 to 30% by weight of the total weight of the composition.

Claims (8)

A low-viscosity cosmetic composition comprising: a solid oily component; a thickener; and a polyol, wherein the solid oily component comprises 1 to 10% by weight of the total weight of the composition, wherein the solid oily component is a mixture of two or more types of components, and wherein the viscosity of the composition is below 10,000 cps; wherein the solid oily component comprises lecithin; and wherein the solid oily component further comprises at least one selected from the following: polyglyceryl-3-methylglucose distearate, cetearyl oliveate/sorbitan oliveate, and glyceryl stearate citrate. The thickener is present in an amount of 1 to 10 parts by weight, and the polyol is present in an amount of 200 to 600 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the solid oily component; wherein the composition does not contain any liquid oily component; wherein the composition is a transparent or translucent solubilizing agent; and wherein the composition is used for moisturizing the skin. The low-viscosity cosmetic composition as described in claim 1, wherein the solid oily component has a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) value of 8 to 13. The low-viscosity cosmetic composition as described in claim 1, wherein the content of each of the two or more solid oily components is less than 5% by weight of the total weight of the composition. The low-viscosity cosmetic composition as described in claim 1, wherein the thickener is selected from one or more of the following: xanthan gum, cellulose gum, hydroxyethylcellulose, ceratonia siliqua gum, carbomer, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer, and hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate copolymer. The low-viscosity cosmetic composition as described in claim 1, wherein the thickener is present in an amount of 0.01 to 1% by weight of the total weight of the composition. The low-viscosity cosmetic composition as described in claim 1, wherein the polyol is selected from one or more of the following: 1,3-butylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, propylene glycol, 1,3-propanediol, glycerin, diglycerin, methylpropanediol, ethylhexanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, and pentylene glycol. The low-viscosity cosmetic composition as described in claim 1, wherein the polyol content is 1 to 30% by weight of the total weight of the composition. The low-viscosity cosmetic composition as described in claim 1, wherein the viscosity of the composition is below 5,000 cps.
