Description

Display module

The present disclosure relates to a display module, and more particularly to a display module with a dustproof structure.

Common flat panel displays include liquid crystal displays, plasma displays, organic light emitting diode displays, etc. These displays can be used in consumer electronics or computer products such as smart phones, laptops, desktop monitors, and televisions.

During the assembly process, a gap is reserved between the display panel and the bezel of a flat panel display to prevent the display panel from being scratched. However, dust, particles or other foreign matter from the outside may enter the flat panel display through the reserved gap, causing component scratches or short circuits, resulting in a decrease in product yield.

Currently, a dustproof structure such as a double-sided foam tape is commonly provided between the display panel and the front frame. However, when the display is bent, the tape may pull the display panel, causing partial light leakage.

Therefore, how to come up with a display module that can solve the above problems is one of the problems that the industry is eager to invest research and development resources to solve.

In view of this, one purpose of the present disclosure is to provide a display module that can solve the above problems.

The inner surface of the side wall portion faces the panel. The tape structure has a first portion, a second portion, a first adhesive layer and a second adhesive layer. The first adhesive layer is disposed on a surface of the first portion away from the second portion. The second adhesive layer is disposed on a surface of the second portion away from the first portion. A side of a first connection area of the first portion away from the first adhesive layer is connected to a side of a second connection area of the second portion away from the second adhesive layer. The second portion extends to the upper surface of the panel. The second adhesive layer is bonded to the upper surface of the panel.

0。In some embodiments, the display module further includes an outer frame. The outer frame is located above the frame body and the panel. At least a portion of the second portion of the tape structure is located between the outer frame and the upper surface of the panel. The minimum distance between the second portion and the outer frame is greater than 0.

In some embodiments, the surface of the second portion facing the outer frame is non-adhesive.

In some embodiments, the first portion is partially located between the top surface of the side wall and the outer frame. The first portion contacts the outer frame.

In some embodiments, the first portion is partially located between the top surface of the side wall and the outer frame. The surface of the first portion facing the outer frame is non-adhesive.

In some embodiments, the second adhesive layer is also bonded to the side surface of the panel facing the frame.

In some embodiments, the panel includes an upper polarizer and an upper substrate. The upper polarizer is located above the upper substrate. The second portion extends onto the upper substrate. The second adhesive layer is bonded to the upper substrate.

In some embodiments, the second portion further extends onto the upper polarizer. The second adhesive layer is further bonded to the upper polarizer.

In some embodiments, the length of the first connecting region of the first portion and the second connecting region of the second portion is equal to or less than the height of the side surface of the panel.

In some embodiments, the first connection area of the first part and the second connection area of the second part are connected through a third adhesive layer.

In some embodiments, the first portion and the second portion are continuous structures.

In summary, in the display module of some embodiments of the present disclosure, a bendable and elastic tape structure is used to be disposed between the frame and the panel of the display, which can fill the gap between the frame and the panel and prevent dust, particles or other foreign objects from entering the gap and then entering the display module. In addition, the tape structure can be attached to the top and inner side of the frame and the top and/or outer side of the panel to increase the attachment area, prevent peeling, and allow a larger attachment error, so that the tape structure can be set through automation and reduce the probability of rework. On the other hand, since the tape structure is not bonded to the outer frame of the display, when the outer frame is squeezed by external force, the external force transmitted to the panel through the tape structure can be reduced, thereby avoiding panel deformation and light leakage. Compared with common display modules, it can achieve the effect of easy installation and avoiding light leakage while ensuring the dustproof effect.

It will be further understood that those terms as defined in commonly used dictionaries should be interpreted as having a meaning consistent with their meaning in the context of the relevant art and this disclosure, and will not be interpreted as an idealized or overly formal meaning unless expressly defined in this disclosure.

The present disclosure describes exemplary embodiments with reference to cross-sectional views that are schematic diagrams of idealized embodiments. Therefore, variations in the shapes of the illustrations as a result of, for example, manufacturing techniques and/or tolerances are to be expected. Therefore, the embodiments described in the present disclosure should not be construed as limited to the specific shapes of the regions as shown in the present disclosure, but rather include shape deviations that result, for example, from manufacturing. For example, a region shown or described as flat may generally have rough and/or nonlinear features. Furthermore, sharp corners shown may be rounded. Therefore, the regions shown in the figures are schematic in nature, and their shapes are not intended to illustrate the exact shape of the regions and are not intended to limit the scope of the claims.

Currently, most common dust-proof structures of monitors are installed between the display panel and the bezel, such as a clamp or tape installed between the upper surface of the display panel and the bezel. However, when the monitor is bent by external force, the stress of the bending may be transmitted to the display panel, causing deformation and light leakage of the display panel, which is particularly unfavorable for the application of wide-viewing-angle display panels.

In addition, some monitors use a light-shielding tape (cell tape) placed between the display panel and the plastic frame for dust protection. Although this type of dust-proof structure has a better dust-proof effect and is not prone to light leakage, it is usually attached manually because the area attached to the display panel and the plastic frame is extremely small, which is not only time-consuming and labor-intensive, but also easy to fall off and difficult to rework.

Therefore, the present disclosure aims to provide a dustproof tape structure which is easy to set up and can avoid light leakage, and a display module including the dustproof tape structure.

Please refer to FIG. 1, which is a schematic diagram of a display module 10 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 1, the display module 10 includes a frame 100 and a panel 200. In some embodiments, the frame 100 is a plastic frame of the display. In some embodiments, the panel 200 includes an upper substrate 220 and a lower substrate 230. As shown in FIG. 1, the upper substrate 220 has an upper surface 220a. In some embodiments, the upper substrate 220 and the lower substrate 230 can be color filters or thin-film transistor (TFT) array substrates. In some embodiments, the panel 200 further includes an upper polarizer 210 and a lower polarizer 240. For example, as shown in FIG. 1, the components included in the panel 200 are, from top to bottom, an upper polarizer 210, an upper substrate 220, a lower substrate 230, and a lower polarizer 240.

As shown in FIG. 1 , the display module 10 further includes a tape structure 300 . The tape structure 300 is configured to be bonded between the frame 100 and the panel 200 to prevent external dust, particles or other foreign objects from entering the gap between the frame 100 and the panel 200 and then entering the interior of the display module 10 .

FIG. 2A is a schematic diagram of a tape structure 300 before being bonded to the frame 100 and the panel 200 in FIG. 1 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. FIG. 2B is a schematic diagram of a tape structure 300 after being bonded to the frame 100 and the panel 200 in FIG. 1 .

L2。Please refer to FIG. 2A. As shown in FIG. 2A, the tape structure 300 has a first portion 310 and a second portion 320. The first portion 310 has a length L2, and the second portion 320 has a length L3. Generally speaking, the length L2 and the length L3 depend on the range of the tape structure 300 bonded to the frame 100 and the panel 200 in FIG. 1. In some embodiments, the length L3 is different from the length L2, as shown in FIG. 2A. In some embodiments, the length L3 is the same as the length L2.

T1。As shown in FIG. 2A , the first portion 310 has a thickness T1, and the second portion 320 has a thickness T2. Generally speaking, the thickness T1 and the thickness T2 are determined by the gap required between the tape structure 300 and the outer frame 400 after being bonded to the frame 100 and the panel 200. In some embodiments, the thickness T2 is the same as the thickness T1, as shown in FIG. 2A . For example, the thickness T1 and the thickness T2 are 0.15 mm. In some embodiments, the thickness T2 is different from the thickness T1.

L1。As shown in FIG. 2A, the first portion 310 has a first connection area 311, and the second portion 320 has a second connection area 321. The first connection area 311 and the second connection area 321 are connected to each other. In the embodiment corresponding to FIG. 2A, the first portion 310 and the second portion 320 are an integrally formed continuous structure. As shown in FIG. 2A, the first connection area 311 and the second connection area 321 have a length L1.

321。In some embodiments, in the process of forming the tape structure 300, the second portion 320 is originally completely connected to the first portion 310, and then a portion of the second portion 320 is separated from the first portion 310 to form the tape structure 300 as shown in FIG. 2A. In other words, the connection area between the first portion 310 and the second portion 320 originally has a length L3. In some embodiments, the tape structure 300 is cut along the dotted line by, for example, performing a laser process to separate a portion of the second portion 320 from the first portion 310, so as to retain the first connection area 311 and the second connection area 321 having a length L1 and connected to each other.

As shown in FIG. 2A , the tape structure 300 further comprises a first adhesive layer 315 and a second adhesive layer 325. The first adhesive layer 315 is disposed on a surface of the first portion 310 away from the second portion 320, such as a surface of the tape structure 300 facing the inner surface 120 b of the frame 100 in FIG. 1 . The second adhesive layer 325 is disposed on a surface of the second portion 320 away from the first portion 310, such as a surface of the tape structure 300 facing the side surface 200 a of the panel 200 in FIG. 1 . In some embodiments, the first adhesive layer 315 and the second adhesive layer 325 comprise acrylic adhesive (such as 3M8003) with a polyester film as a base material.

In some embodiments, the length of the first adhesive layer 315 is the same as the length L2 of the first portion 310, as shown in FIG. 2A. In some embodiments, the length of the first adhesive layer 315 is less than the length L2 of the first portion 310. Similarly, in some embodiments, the length of the second adhesive layer 325 is the same as the length L3 of the second portion 320, as shown in FIG. 2A. In some embodiments, the length of the second adhesive layer 325 is less than the length L3 of the second portion 320. For example, in some embodiments, the second adhesive layer 325 does not exist in the second connection area 321.

Please refer to FIG. 2B. The tape structure 300 can be unfolded into a configuration as shown in FIG. 2B to be bonded between the frame 100 and the panel 200 and fill the gap therebetween to prevent external dust and particles from entering the display module 10 through the gap and causing scratches or short circuits on the components. As shown in FIG. 2B, the first portion 310 and the second portion 320 are unfolded into an L-shape in opposite horizontal directions. The first portion 310 has an upward surface 312, and the second portion 320 has an upward surface 322. In some embodiments, the surface 312 and the surface 322 are non-adhesive.

In some embodiments, the tape structure 300 includes an elastic material to fill the gap between the frame 100 and the panel 200. In some embodiments, the tape structure 300 includes a bendable material so that the tape structure 300 can be unfolded from the state of FIG. 2A to the state of FIG. 2B. For example, the tape structure 300 includes a sealing foam (such as SCF400TT).

325。Please refer to Figures 3 and 4, which are schematic diagrams of the intermediate stage of the display module 10 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the sake of clarity, the first adhesive layer 315 and the second adhesive layer 325 of the tape structure 300 are omitted.

As shown in FIG. 3 , after the optical module 500 and the frame 100 are assembled, the tape structure 300 as shown in FIG. 2A is placed on the frame 100, so that the first portion 310 of the tape structure 300 faces the inner surface 120b of the side wall portion 120 of the frame 100, and the second portion 320 is away from the side wall portion 120. In some embodiments, the bottom of the tape structure 300 contacts the support portion 110, as shown in FIG. 3 . In some embodiments, the bottom of the tape structure 300 is separated from the support portion 110.

Next, as shown in FIG. 4 , the panel 200 is placed on the supporting portion 110, and the tape structure 300 is located between the side surface 200a of the panel 200 and the inner surface 120b of the frame 100. In some embodiments, the side surface 200a of the panel 200 may be the side surface of the upper substrate 220 and the lower substrate 230. As shown in FIG. 4 , the second portion 320 of the tape structure 300 contacts the side surface of the upper substrate 220 and the lower substrate 230 of the panel 200.

10。Please refer to Fig. 1 again. After the operation corresponding to Fig. 4 is completed, the tape structure 300 can be unfolded into the state shown in Fig. 2B, and the outer frame 400 is set to form the display module 10 shown in Fig. 1.

200a。As shown in FIG. 1, after the tape structure 300 is unfolded, the first portion 310 contacts the inner surface 120b of the side wall portion 120 and extends to the top surface 120a of the side wall portion 120. Thus, the first adhesive layer 315 bonds the top surface 120a and the inner surface 120b of the side wall portion 120. At the same time, the second portion 320 contacts the side surface 200a of the panel 200 and extends to the top of the panel 200, such as the upper surface 220a of the upper substrate 220 shown in FIG. 1. Thus, the second adhesive layer 325 bonds the upper surface 220a of the upper substrate 220. In some embodiments, the second adhesive layer 325 also bonds the side surface 200a.

By making the second portion 320 contact or even adhere to the side surface 200a of the panel 200, the attachment area of the tape structure 300 can be increased, and a larger attachment error can be allowed under the premise of ensuring the dustproof effect. In this way, after forming the intermediate stage structure of the display module 10 as shown in FIG. 3, the tape structure 300 in the state of FIG. 2A can be automatically set thereon, and then the panel 200 is assembled, the tape structure 300 is automatically or manually unfolded to the state of FIG. 2B, and the outer frame 400 is assembled. Compared with manually attaching the light-shielding tape after setting the panel 200, time and labor costs can be saved.

As described above, the first portion 310 extends onto the top surface 120a of the side wall portion 120. Therefore, the first portion 310 is partially located between the top surface 120a of the side wall portion 120 and the outer frame 400, as shown in FIG. 1. In some embodiments, the first portion 310 contacts the outer frame 400. As described above, in some embodiments, the surface of the first portion 310 facing the outer frame 400 (such as the surface 312 in FIG. 2B) is non-adhesive.

As described above, the second portion 320 extends onto the upper surface 220a of the upper substrate 220. Therefore, at least a portion of the second portion 320 is located between the upper surface 220a of the upper substrate 220 and the outer frame 400, as shown in FIG. 1. In some embodiments, the minimum distance between the surface of the second portion 320 facing the outer frame 400 (such as the surface 322 in FIG. 2B) and the outer frame 400 is greater than 0. For example, as shown in FIG. 1, the minimum distance between the surface of the second portion 320 (such as the surface 322 in FIG. 2B) and the outer frame 400 is a distance D1. In some embodiments, the distance D1 is greater than 0. The size of the distance D1 can be adjusted by the thickness T2 of the second portion 320 (as shown in FIG. 2A). As mentioned above, in some embodiments, the surface of the second portion 320 facing the outer frame 400 (such as the surface 322 in FIG. 2B ) is non-adhesive.

Since the surfaces of the tape structure 300 facing the outer frame 400 (such as the surface 312 and the surface 322 in FIG. 2B ) are non-adhesive, the external force applied to the outer frame 400 will not be transmitted to the panel 200 via the tape structure 300 to cause light leakage.

In order to allow the second portion 320 to bend and extend to the upper surface 220a of the upper substrate 220, in some embodiments, the length L3 of the second portion 320 is greater than the height H of the side surface 200a of the panel 200. Further, the length L1 of the first connecting area 311 of the first portion 310 and the second connecting area 321 of the second portion 320 is equal to or less than the height H of the side surface 200a of the panel 200, so as to facilitate the unfolding of the tape structure 300 so that it can be better bonded to the various structural surfaces of the frame 100 and the panel 200.

Please refer to FIG. 5, which is a schematic diagram of a display module 10' according to other embodiments of the present disclosure. The difference between the display module 10' and the display module 10 is that, as shown in FIG. 5, the second portion 320' of the tape structure 300' included in the display module 10' also extends to the upper polarizer 210 and adheres to the upper polarizer 210. In this way, the minimum distance between the surface of the second portion 320' facing the outer frame 400 and the outer frame 400 is the distance D2 shown in FIG. 5. In some embodiments, the distance D2 is greater than 0. The size of the distance D2 can be adjusted by the thickness of the second portion 320'.

Please refer to Figures 6A and 6B, which are schematic diagrams of tape structures 300" according to other embodiments of the present disclosure. The difference between tape structure 300" and tape structure 300 is that, as shown in Figures 6A and 6B, tape structure 300" further includes a third adhesive layer 330. In this embodiment, the first portion 310 and the second portion 320 are originally separate structures, and then connected through the third adhesive layer 330. As shown in Figures 6A and 6B, the first connection area 311 and the second connection area 321 are bonded through the third adhesive layer 330.

From the above detailed description of the specific implementation of the present disclosure, it can be clearly seen that in the display module of some implementations of the present disclosure, a bendable and elastic tape structure is used to be disposed between the frame and the panel of the display, which can fill the gap between the frame and the panel and prevent external dust, particles or other foreign matter from entering the gap and then entering the display module.
