Description

電泳顯示裝置及其驅動方法
本發明是有關於一種顯示裝置及其驅動方法,且特別是有關於一種電泳顯示裝置及其驅動方法。
習知具有觸控功能的電泳顯示裝置包括驅動陣列基板(如主動元件陣列基板)、貼附於驅動陣列基板上的電泳顯示薄膜及內埋於電泳顯示薄膜中的觸控元件層。電泳顯示薄膜中具有一顯示介質以及分布於顯示介質中的多個顯示粒子。以顯示黑白的電泳顯示裝置為例,其顯示介質主要是由黑色電泳液以及摻於黑色電泳液中的白色帶電粒子所構成,透過驅動陣列基板施加電壓的方式來驅動白色帶電粒子移動,以使各個畫素分別顯示黑色、白色或灰階。在現有技術中,為了擴大電泳顯示器的應用,亦可於電泳顯示薄膜上設置彩色濾光薄膜。此時,電泳顯示器的色彩的呈現主要是利用外界光通過彩色濾光薄膜後,電泳液中的白色帶電粒子會將外界光反射後再穿透彩色濾光薄膜而進行顯示。然而,由於電泳顯示裝置需要透過驅動陣列基板來與觸控元件層做 回饋而產生有觸控的功能,但驅動陣列基板的製作成本較高,因此習知的電泳顯示裝置的製作成本不易降低。
本發明提供一種電泳顯示裝置及其驅動方法,無須使用驅動陣列基板即具有彩色手寫的功能,且具有低成本的優勢。
本發明的電泳顯示裝置,其包括一基板、一彩色濾光層、一電泳顯示薄膜、一共用電極層、多個電極圖案及多個間隙物。彩色濾光層配置於基板上,且至少包括多個第一彩色濾光圖案及多個第二彩色濾光圖案。電泳顯示薄膜配置於基板與彩色濾光層之間,且包括一可撓性基材與多個顯示介質。第一彩色濾光圖案及第二彩色濾光圖案分別對應顯示介質,且彩色濾光層與顯示介質分別位於可撓性基材的相對兩側。共用電極層配置於可撓性基材與基板其中之一上,且位於可撓性基材與基板之間。電極圖案配置於可撓性基材與基板其中之另一上,且位於可撓性基材與基板之間。電極圖案至少包括多個第一電極圖案及多個第二電極圖案,其中第一電極圖案適於接受一第一電壓且分別對應第一彩色濾光圖案設置,而第二電極圖案適於接受一第二電壓且分別對應第二彩色濾光圖案設置。間隙物配置於電泳顯示薄膜的顯示介質與基板之間。
在本發明的一實施例中,上述的共用電極層配置於可撓性基材上,且位於可撓性基材與顯示介質之間。電極圖案配置於 基板上,且位於間隙物與基板之間。
在本發明的一實施例中,上述的共用電極層配置於基板上,且位於間隙物與基板之間。電極圖配置於可撓性基材上,且位於可撓性基材與顯示介質之間。
在本發明的一實施例中,上述的每一顯示介質包括一電泳液、多個黑色帶電粒子以及多個白色帶電粒子。黑色帶電粒子以及白色帶電粒子分佈於電泳液中。
在本發明的一實施例中,上述的彩色濾光圖案更包括多個第三彩色濾光圖案。電極圖案更包括多個第三電極圖案。第三電極圖案適於接受一第三電壓且分別對應第三彩色濾光圖案設置。
在本發明的一實施例中,上述的第一彩色濾光圖案、第二彩色濾光圖案以及第三彩色濾光圖案彼此平行且呈交錯配置。
本發明的電泳顯示裝置的驅動方法,係用來驅動上述之電泳顯示裝置。驅動方法包括以下步驟。分別提供第一電壓與第二電壓給第一電極圖案以及第二電極圖案,其中第一電壓與第二電壓的差值等於第二電壓的數值。藉由一輸入工具接觸電泳顯示裝置的一區域,以使區域中的每一第一電極圖案所對應的第一彩色濾光圖案的顏色被顯現出來。於輸入工具接觸電泳顯示裝置的區域之後,分別提供一第四電壓以及一第五電壓給第一電極圖案以及第二電極圖案,其中第四電壓與第五電壓的差值等於第四電壓的數值或第五電壓的數值。再一次藉由輸入工具接觸電泳顯示 裝置的區域,以使區域中每一第二電極圖案所對應的顯示介質的顏色被顯現出來。
在本發明的一實施例中,上述的第一電壓為0伏特,而第二電壓為負15伏特。
在本發明的一實施例中,上述的第四電壓為0伏特或正15伏特,而第五電壓為正15伏特。
在本發明的一實施例中,上述的輸入工具為手指或柱狀物。
基於上述,由於本發明的電泳顯示裝置具有對應不同顏色之彩色濾光圖案的電極圖案,且電極圖案可分別接受不同的電壓。因此,本發明的電泳顯示裝置無須使用習知的驅動陣列基板,故可降低電泳顯示裝置的製作成本,且還能使本發明的電泳顯示裝置具有彩色手寫的功能。

圖1繪示為本發明的一實施例的一種電泳顯示裝置的示意圖。請參考圖1,在本實施例中,電泳顯示裝置100a包括一基板110、一彩色濾光層120、一電泳顯示薄膜130、一共用電極層140a、多個電極圖案150a及多個間隙物160。彩色濾光層120配置於基板110上,且至少包括多個第一彩色濾光圖案122及多個第二彩色濾光圖案124。電泳顯示薄膜130配置於基板110與彩色濾光層120之間,且包括一可撓性基材132與多個顯示介質134。第一彩色濾光圖案122及第二彩色濾光圖案124分別對應顯示介質134,且彩色濾光層120與顯示介質134分別位於可撓性基材132的相對兩側。共用電極層140a配置於可撓性基材132與基板110其中之一上,且位於可撓性基材132與基板110之間。電極圖案150a配置於可撓性基材132與基板110其中之另一上,且位於可撓性基材132與基板110之間。電極圖案150a至少包括多個第一電極圖案152a及多個第二電極圖案154a,其中第一電極圖案152a適於接受一第一電壓V1且分別對應第一彩色濾光圖案122設置,而第二電極圖案154a適於接受一第二電壓V2且分別對應第二彩色濾光圖案124設置。間隙物160配置於電泳顯示薄膜130的顯示介質134與基板110之間。
更具體來說,本實施例的基板110例如是樹脂基板或玻璃基板。如圖1所示,彩色濾光層120更包括多個第三彩色濾光圖案126,其中第一彩色濾光圖案122、第二彩色濾光圖案124以及第三彩色濾光圖案126彼此平行且呈交錯配置,且第一彩色濾光圖案122、第二彩色濾光圖案124以及第三彩色濾光圖案126分別例如是紅色濾光圖案、綠色濾光圖案以及藍色濾光圖案,但並不以此為限。當然,於其他未繪示的實施例中,彩色濾光層亦可僅包含兩種不同顏色的濾光圖案;或者是,更包含多個第四彩色濾光圖案,其中第四彩色濾光圖案例如是白色濾光圖案。上述技術特徵仍屬於本發明可採用的技術方案,不脫離本發明所欲保護的範圍。此外,為了具有較佳的視覺效果,本實施例的電泳顯示裝置100a更可包括一黑矩陣層(未繪示),配置於第一彩色濾光圖案122、第二彩色濾光圖案124以及第三彩色濾光圖案126之間,來避免漏光。
請再參考圖1,本實施例的電泳顯示薄膜130的每一顯示介質134包括一電泳液134a、多個白色帶電粒子134b以及多個黑色帶電粒子134c,其中黑色帶電粒子134c以及白色帶電粒子134b分佈於電泳液134a中。換言之,本實施例的顯示介質134具體化為膠囊式電泳顯示介質。當然,於其他未繪示的實施例中,顯示介質亦可為微杯式電泳顯示介層,於此並不加以限制。再者,本實施例的共用電極層140a是配置於可撓性基材132上,且位於可撓性基材132與顯示介質134之間,其中共用電極層140a的材質 為透明導電材料。此處,共用電極層140a實質上為整層結構層,意即共用電極層140a完全覆蓋可撓性基材132的表面。
此外,本實施例的電極圖案150a配置於基板110上,且位於間隙物160與基板110之間,其中電極圖案150a的材質例如是銀線等導電物品。如圖1所示,本實施例的電極圖案150a更包括多個第三電極圖案156a,其中第三電極圖案156a適於接受一第三電壓V3且分別對應第三彩色濾光圖案126。當然,於其他未繪示的實施例中,電極圖案亦可僅包含兩種接收不同電壓的電極圖案;或者是,更包含接受其他電壓的第四電極圖案,只要不同顏色的彩色濾光圖案分別對應接受不同電壓的電極圖案,即屬於本發明可採用的技術方案,不脫離本發明所欲保護的範圍。此處,電極圖案150a彼此分離,而相同的第一電極圖案152a、相同的第二電極圖案154a及相同的第三電極圖案156a分別接收第一電壓V1、第二電壓V2及第三電壓V3且呈交錯配置。也就是說,相同的電極圖案是以串聯的方式來電性連接。
另外,本實施例的間隙物160具體化為位於顯示介質134與電極圖案150a之間,用以維持顯示介質134與電極圖案150a之間的間隙,其中間隙物160的材質例如是光阻或塑料球。當然,電泳顯示裝置100a可更包括一保護層170,其中保護層170配置於彩色濾光層120上,用以保護第一彩色濾光圖案122、第二彩色濾光圖案124及第三彩色濾光圖案126。
由於本實施例的電泳顯示裝置100a的不同顏色的第一彩 色濾光圖案122、第二彩色濾光圖案124及第三彩色濾光圖案126分別對應接受第一電壓V1、第二電壓V2及第三電壓V3的第一電極圖案152a、第二電極圖案154a以及第三電極圖案156a。因此,當第一電極圖案152a、第二電極圖案154a以及第三電極圖案156a分別接受第一電壓V1、第二電壓V2及第三電壓V3,且一輸入工具(如手指,未繪示)觸碰電泳顯示裝置100g,即可驅動所觸碰區域之顯示介質134中的白色帶電粒子134b以及黑色帶電粒子134c產生移動,而產生白色、黑色或彩色的顯示效果。換言之,相較於習知需要驅動陣列基板與觸控元件層進行回饋的電泳顯示裝置而言,本實施例的電泳顯示裝置100a無須採用驅動陣列基板,故具有較低成本的優勢且能具有彩色手寫的功能。
圖2繪示為本發明的另一實施例的一種電泳顯示裝置的示意圖。本實施例沿用前述實施例的元件標號與部分內容,其中採用相同的標號來表示相同或近似的元件,並且省略了相同技術內容的說明。關於省略部分的說明可參照前述實施例,本實施例不再重複贅述。請參考圖2,本實施例的電泳顯示裝置100b與前述實施例的電泳顯示裝置100a主要的差異是在於:本實施例的共用電極層140b配置於基板110上,且位於間隙物160與基板110之間。電極圖案150a配置於可撓性基材132上,且位於可撓性基材132與顯示介質134之間。
以下將以圖1中的電泳顯示裝置100a作為舉例說明,並配合圖3A至圖3D對本發明的電泳顯示裝置的驅動方法進行詳細 的說明。
圖3A至圖3D繪示為本發明的一實施例的一種電泳顯示裝置的驅動示意圖。請先參考圖3A,在本實施例中,分別提供第一電壓V1、第二電壓V2及第三電壓V3給第一電極圖案152a、第二電極圖案154a及第三電極圖案156a,其中第一電壓V1與第二電壓V2的差值等於第二電壓V2的數值,而第三電壓V3的等於第二電壓V2。此處,第一電壓V1例如是為0伏特,而第二電壓V2與第三電壓V3例如是為負15伏特。舉例來說,如圖3所示,本實施例中的所有顯示介質134中的白色帶電粒子134b與黑色帶電粒子134c皆呈現白上黑下的型態,意即本實施例的電泳顯示裝置100a是呈現白色,但並不以此為限。
接著,請參考圖3B,藉由一輸入工具10接觸電泳顯示裝置100a的一區域A,以使區域A中的每一第一電極圖案152a所對應的第一彩色濾光圖案122的顏色被顯現出來。此處,輸入工具10例如視手指或柱狀物,無須特殊書寫用筆,如觸控筆。舉例來說,當輸入工具10觸碰電泳顯示裝置100a的區域A時,由於第一彩色濾光圖案122例如為紅色濾光圖案,且對應第一彩色濾光圖案122的第一電極圖案152a所接收的第一電壓V1為0伏特,因此其所對應的顯示介質134中的白色帶電粒子134b與黑色帶電粒子134c仍未持白上黑下的型態。此時,對應第二彩色濾光圖案124與第三彩色濾光圖案126的第二電極圖案154a及第三電極圖案156a,是分別接收負15伏特的第二電壓V2與第三電壓 V3,因此其所對應的顯示介質134中的白色帶電粒子134b與黑色帶電粒子134c會從原來的白上黑下的型態移動成黑上白下的型態。如此一來,當外界光通過彩色濾光層120後,對應第一彩色濾光圖案122的顯示介質134中的白色帶電粒子134b會將外界光反射後再穿透第一彩色濾光圖案122而進行顯示,也就是說,電泳顯示裝置100a可以顯現出紅色。
接著,請參考圖3C,於輸入工具10接觸電泳顯示裝置100a的區域A之後,分別提供一第四電壓V4、一第五電壓V5及一第六電壓V6給第一電極圖案152a、第二電極圖案154a及第三電極圖案156a,其中第四電壓V4與第五電壓V5的差值等於第四電壓V4的數值或第五電壓V5的數值,而第六電壓V6等於第五電壓V5。此處,第四電壓V4為0伏特或正15伏特,而第五電壓V5及第六電壓V6為正15伏特。意即,第五電壓V5及第六電壓V6為第二電壓V2及第三電壓V3的互補電壓。
最後,請再參考圖3D,再一次藉由輸入工具10接觸電泳顯示裝置100a的區域A,以使區域A中每一第二電極圖案154a及每一第三電極圖案156a所對應的顯示介質134的顏色被顯現出來。也就是說,當第一電極圖案152a、第二電極圖案154a及第三電極圖案156a分別接收第四電壓V4、第五電壓V5及第六電壓V6時,輸入工具10觸碰電泳顯示裝置100a時,會使得區域A內中對應第二彩色濾光圖案124與第三彩色濾光圖案126的顯示介質134的白色帶電粒子134b與黑色帶電粒子134c,從原來的黑上 白下的型態移動成白上黑下的型態。也就是說,顯示介質134會恢復至原來的白上黑下的狀態,而使得本實施例的電泳顯示裝置100a呈現白色。換言之,透過上述的驅動方法,本實施例的電泳顯示裝置100a可具有重新覆寫的功能,且無須使用特殊書寫用筆,所以在使用上相同便利。
綜上所述,由於本發明的電泳顯示裝置具有對應不同顏色之彩色濾光圖案的電極圖案,且電極圖案可分別接受不同的電壓。因此,本發明的電泳顯示裝置無須使用習知的驅動陣列基板,故可降低電泳顯示裝置的製作成本,且還能使本發明的電泳顯示裝置具有彩色手寫的功能。此外,透過輸入互補電壓即可使呈現彩色狀態的電泳顯示裝置回覆成原來呈現黑色或白色狀態的電泳顯示裝置,故本發明的電泳顯示裝置具有重新覆寫的功能,且無須使用特殊書寫用筆,所以在使用上相同便利。
雖然本發明已以實施例揭露如上,然其並非用以限定本發明,任何所屬技術領域中具有通常知識者,在不脫離本發明的精神和範圍內,當可作些許的更動與潤飾,故本發明的保護範圍當視後附的申請專利範圍所界定者為準。

Claims (10)

  1. 一種電泳顯示裝置,包括:一基板;一彩色濾光層,配置於該基板上,且至少包括多個第一彩色濾光圖案及多個第二彩色濾光圖案;一電泳顯示薄膜,配置於該基板與該彩色濾光層之間,且包括一可撓性基材與多個顯示介質,其中該些第一彩色濾光圖案及該些第二彩色濾光圖案分別對應該些顯示介質,且該彩色濾光層與該些顯示介質分別位於該可撓性基材的相對兩側;一共用電極層,配置於該可撓性基材與該基板其中之一上,且位於該可撓性基材與該基板之間;多個電極圖案,配置於該可撓性基材與該基板其中之另一上,且位於該可撓性基材與該基板之間,該些電極圖案至少包括多個第一電極圖案及多個第二電極圖案,其中該些第一電極圖案適於接受一第一電壓且分別對應該些第一彩色濾光圖案設置,而該些第二電極圖案適於接受一第二電壓且分別對應該些第二彩色濾光圖案設置;以及多個間隙物,配置於該電泳顯示薄膜的該些顯示介質與該基板之間。
  2. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述的電泳顯示裝置,其中該共用電極層配置於該可撓性基材上,且位於該可撓性基材與該些顯示介質之間,而該些電極圖案配置於該基板上,且位於該些間隙物 與該基板之間。
  3. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述的電泳顯示裝置,其中該共用電極層配置於該基板上,且位於該些間隙物與該基板之間,而該些電極圖配置於該可撓性基材上,且位於該可撓性基材與該些顯示介質之間。
  4. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述的電泳顯示裝置,其中各該顯示介質包括一電泳液、多個黑色帶電粒子以及多個白色帶電粒子,該些黑色帶電粒子以及該些白色帶電粒子分佈於該電泳液中。
  5. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述的電泳顯示裝置,其中該彩色濾光圖案更包括多個第三彩色濾光圖案,而該些電極圖案更包括多個第三電極圖案,且該些第三電極圖案適於接受一第三電壓且分別對應該些第三彩色濾光圖案設置。
  6. 如申請專利範圍第5項所述的電泳顯示裝置,其中該些第一彩色濾光圖案、該些第二彩色濾光圖案以及該些第三彩色濾光圖案彼此平行且呈交錯配置。
  7. 一種電泳顯示裝置的驅動方法,係用來驅動如申請專利範圍第1項所述之電泳顯示裝置,該驅動方法包括:分別提供該第一電壓與該第二電壓給該些第一電極圖案以及該些第二電極圖案,其中該第一電壓與該第二電壓的差值等於該第二電壓的數值;藉由一輸入工具接觸該電泳顯示裝置的一區域,以使該區域中的各該第一電極圖案所對應的該第一彩色濾光圖案的顏色被顯 現出來;於該輸入工具接觸該電泳顯示裝置的該區域之後,分別提供一第四電壓以及一第五電壓給該些第一電極圖案以及該些第二電極圖案,其中該第四電壓與該第五電壓的差值等於該第四電壓的數值或該第五電壓的數值;以及再一次藉由該輸入工具接觸該電泳顯示裝置的該區域,以使該區域中各該第二電極圖案所對應的該顯示介質的顏色被顯現出來。
  8. 如申請專利範圍第7項所述的電泳顯示裝置的驅動方法,其中該第一電壓為0伏特,而該第二電壓為負15伏特。
  9. 如申請專利範圍第7項所述的電泳顯示裝置的驅動方法,其中該第四電壓為0伏特或正15伏特,而該第五電壓為正15伏特。
  10. 如申請專利範圍第7項所述的電泳顯示裝置的驅動方法,其中該輸入工具為手指或柱狀物。
